Sealed 1986 Topps Vending Case Break! (All shipped from Mark Murphy!)

I gotta say, it was fun to break n' rip those 1980 Backetball packs with a few of you guys!
I just purchased a sealed 1986 Topps Vending case from Mark Murphy (The Baseball Card "Kid") of San Diego, CA

There are 24 untouched Vending boxes in this case. (note: the above is a pic of an '87 case, but Mark assures me he will ship us an '86)
My thought is to offer a "case break" only to eight participants.
NOTE: ALL HAVE PAID! COST PER PARCIPANT: $ 22.75 USE PAYPAL: rbdjr@bellsouth.net , THANKS!!! rd
1. rd (bob) PAID!!!
2. XanaduNow (arthur) PAID!!!
3. NYYDM23 (rob) PAID!!!
4. BSUballer (Aaron) PAID!!!
5. packCollector (duncan) PAID!!!
6. Piman58 (charles) PAID!!!
7. ChrisC (chris) PAID!!!
8. Spahnfan (janis) PAID!!!
That will mean each participant will receive three vending boxes (1,500 cards!).
Why did i pick this case?
1. Well, first of all, it was inexpensive ($ 99.00 + $ 56.81 UPS Ground, FOB CA to Florida).
2. It is a "sealed case". The vending boxes inside the case will be "untampered with".
3. I figured Mark Murphy (The Baseball Card "Kid") to be a trust worthy source for this material.
4. Low Risk: The cost per participant will be reasonable enough to offset the chance of any bad cards (i.e., off-centered, dinged, etc.).
5. The fact that each participant will receive three untouched vending boxes (1,500 mint cards), will mean each participant will have a great chance to pull some nice, high grade material from those boxes!
6. Considering just how inexpensive this is, there are some really nice cards to be pulled:
#001 Pete Rose (three 10s!)
#002 Pete Rose
#003 Pete Rose
#004 Pete Rose
#005 Pete Rose (four 10s!)
#006 Pete Rose
#007 Pete Rose (No 10s ever graded!)
#010 Tony Gynn (four 10s!)
#070 Dave Winfield
#085 Tony Perez
#100 Nolan Ryan (No 10s ever graded!) This would be big! If someoned pulled a gem here!
#120 Steve Carlton
#180 Don Mattingly
#185 Rollie Fingers (No 10s!)
#200 Mike Schmidt
#206 Pete Rose (three 10s!)
#267 Paul Molitor (three 10s!)
#280 Tim Raines (No 10s!)
#300 George Brett (No 10s ever graded!)
#329 Kirby Puckett
#340 Cal Ripken Jr
#390 Tom Seaver
#400 Rod Carew (three 10s!)
#402 Tom Seaver/Turn Back the Clock (one 10!)
#403 Willie Mays/Turn Back the Clock (three 10s!)
#404 Frank Robinson/Turn Back the Clock (one 10!)
#405 Roger Maris/Turn Back the Clock (two 10s!)
#485 Bret Saberhagen (Wow! Only two 10s out of 265 graded cards!)
#500 Rickey Henderson (one 10!)
#510 Wade Boggs (No 10s!)
#538 Dennis Eckersley (two 10s!)
#661 Roger Clemens
#690 Ryne Sandberg (No 10s!)
#700 Reggie Jackson (No 10s!)
#704 Ozzie Smith (two 10s!)
#712 Don Mattingly (one 10!)
#714 George Brett (three 10s!)
#715 Cal Ripkin Jr (No 10s!)
#716 Rickey Henderson (one 10!)
#717 Dave Winfield (three 10s!)
#719 Carlton Fisk (three 10s!)
#730 Ozzie Smith (No 10s!)
#741 Pete Rose
#780 Robin Yount (two 10s!)
...plus a bunch of team leaders, checklists, semi-stars, rookies, etc.
So for just, $ 22.75 per participant (includes all drop shipping costs by mark Murphy!), I figured this to be nothing but PURE CHEAP fun!
So, let me know who's in? Let's do it!

<< <i>No thanks. I busted a case of this about a year ago from Steve Hart and had 2 cards out of the 12,000 I felt had a chance at a 10. They actually are being sent in tomorrow. >>
The print run could be, different from one case to another. Hopefully, this case will produce better results. My feeling is for under twenty bucks (+s/h), for three vending boxes of 1,500 cards. What the heck? It should be cheap fun in any event, plus we might get a case with a really good "print run"? Hope u re-consider zef?

It sure could be way different, and I hope it is. It is fun to bust anything IMO but I'm going to pass. I am kinda 86ed out. After that vending case I busted a rack case of 1986. If you need one at the end, I'll hop in, but hopefully you'll have enough interest. LMK.

I haven't bought a vending case in a long time - it was more like 25 bucks in the early 90s.

<< <i>This is great. I don't have an '86 Topps set so I think I'll pick up a binder and some pages and piece one together. I'm thinking I should come close with 1500 cards.

Arthur-
I have mint dupes of quite a few cards, so if you come up short trying to build a presentable set let me know.

If you end up needing any I will fill the holes for you. I have a miswrap cello case with 350 packs that I have been thinking about tearing into. I also have a few wax boxes here somewhere. Unpacking my old collection is fun but also a chore.
Looks like you have two helpers
Rob
I'd been waiting for BBCE to have boxes of '86 Topps so I could pick a few up (they only had racks and individual packs listed for a while) so this is right up my alley even if it only '86 Topps.
For some reason I didn't get to rip a lot of this as a kid '87 was the first year I bought bulk). I'm actually really looking forward to pulling some Goodens, Clemens, Fielders, etc.
Thanks again guys. Hopefully I won't need to many cards and condition won't matter since this will just be a personal set to flip through and look at.

Mark Murphy called me to let me know that the case is a 1986 Vending case after all, and the pic was an error!
Mark was nice enough and has agreed to drop ship 3 vending boxes directly to all eight participants! That will save us all a little cash! He will LMK what extra theshipping will be. That's really great news! Otherwise, I would have had to re-ship and this way I don't!
rd
P.S. We talked a little, as I asked him about all those 1955 Bowman boxes for sale on ebay. He told me he had received offers on some single boxes. We both wondered if anyone would buy the whole lot (i.e., $750,000! Wow!)
I asked Mark if this means he is back in business like the old days, he told me he is involved in some other venturesand projects, and I guess that meant he will be a "part-time", The Baseball Pack "Kid" again? We shall see. I wish him luck, whatever he does. In any event, he seems to be taking care of us, as far as this deal goes! Thanks Mark!
