OT Tonawanda snow-did Don survive?

After waking up and finding out that Buffalo received 14 to 18 inches of snow I'm worried about Don. Shrooms don't do well in snow, do they?image

Seriously, there's no power there for many folks-wondering how he's doing...

I live about 45 minutes south of him, and we just got a dusting. All our news stations are on "Storm Alert". 300,000 people without power up by him, not scheduled to be back on my Monday/Tuesday, and the thruway closed from almost the PA line to Rochester. Some places have 24", and one caller just reported 3'.

Biggest problem is with the leaves still on the trees, the heavy snow stuck more than normal and overloaded them causing a lot of limbs and trees to fall. Power lines almost everywhere then buried by the snow, so it's pretty ugly up there.

I talked with him last night when he was only at six inches of snow and he was ok, I would imagine even if he has power, his ISP may not.

We get storms like this a few times a year, but I don't think many people were prepared for this one so early in the season. Good ole' lake effect snow.

    Dockwalliper lives up there too.

I hope he is ok. I might have to re-think my plan of going fishing on lake Erie tomorrow. Sounds like driving through Buffalo might not be fun...

When I logged in last night, he had PMed me this photo. It had just started snowing. Haven't had a reply to any of my PMs since, haven't seen his light on either.

I'm sure we all wish him well, his coins spread in a circle around a flickering candle, trying to grade coins... one moment an MS63, the next an MS66 (depending on the light).image

Poor Don. I just met him in person last week, I should have got his phone number. Don - before you stand out front of your house with the sign "Coins for Heat", drive down to Fredonia, you can hang here for a few days image

These are photos from CNN of the area - it isn't so much the snow - they said 50% of the trees are partially or completely down (a lot of power lines got taken out). I don't see any trees in his front yard from the picture posted, and only a few across the street, so maybe he'll be ok.
