What do you think? I used to think I graded this one right, but now I'm not so sure.

I gave it a 53, but I am not well-versed with this series at all.

I voted 55. Very nice coin.-Remember that 20 cent pieces are graded differently than other seated liberty series. The rim scratches or whatever they are a little distracting. Bob

I had one in a PCGS 50 holder and yours looks much better. The guess from what I see is 55 atleast but not over 58.

Edit to add: After logging in I see there is no guess that would be over 58.

What looks like issues at around 11 o'clock on the reverse rim is just toning stuff. The rim there is perfect. The scuffs or whatever on the obv. are there, though.

Thanks for the replies, everybody. Basically, my debate was 50 or 45. I bought it as an AU and I've been beginning to doubt whether that was the right grade. For what it's worth, I too have seen a number of them in PCGS 50 holders that weren't as nice as this one, but grading strictly I think there is just a bit too much wear on the seated figure to call it an AU coin. something like 40% or so of the luster remains. My grade? XF48, LOL

Oh well. I won't be buying another one any time soon!

From the pics provided I have to go with 45 without the scratches 50

Very nice coin they are not easy to get your hands on in higher grades.

    I gave it a 50 also.

The Eagle looks nice with no wear at the tips. a better pic might get a better grade?

    I gave it a 45, but right now the forum, with 26 @ 45 and 17 @ 50 averages out to 47!

    (extend it to add in and average the 7 40's and 10 53's and it's a 51.75...)

    (( even more amazingly, right now with 2 20's, 1 25, 1 30, 5 35's, 5 55's, and 2 58's - along with the other grades above - the total of 3446 divided by 76 graders yields an average score of 45.34 !!!!!!))

You might get lucky with NGC or ANACS and get that AU50 grade.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
