I'm a Mets fan, and not a Yankee fan by any means, but after reading all these posts by Sox fans, I can't help but think that they hate the Yankees even more than they root for their own team. The Yankee fans on this board have responded very graciously with regard to the Tigers win but the Sox fans just can't stop taunting the Yankee fans for losing. Seems a bit strange for fans of a third-place team to be talking so much smack and even adding Tiger logos to their posts.

    Give me a break, Grote.

We always have fun when the Yankees lose, and if you haven't noticed, Yankees fans here started with the "Boston sucks" signatures last week, so we are just having some fun back at them. Believe me, I'm not happy with the Sox 3rd place finish at all, but it seems almost better than having double the payroll and winning just one playoff game.

You are not the only one that notices this trend Grote. Most of these "yankee haters" talk about the Yankees more than they do about their "favorite" teams. Why? Beats me.

Give me a break, Grote - what team are you a fan of, anyway? Mets, I'll bet.

Astute observation there, Einstein. Though I've been a Mets fan since Jerry Grote (hence the user name) was behind the plate, so, no, I'm not a johnny-come-lately as you so erroneously suggest.

At least the Yanks made the playoffs. Your team finished in THIRD place behind the freakin' Blue Jays, even with the #2 payroll in all of baseball, so please, don't be whining about the payroll issue, it just rings hollow.

Sorry - I edited my post.

But, was this really that much better? $90 million more, all to win one lousy playoff game? I am content in knowing that the Sox will be better in 2007, and the way the Yanks look today, they are clearly headed in the other direction.

You may be right there. If only the Yanks could jettison Pavano, Wright, Johnson & A-Rod...

Gimme a freakin break, you failed to notice as soon as the Yanks made the playoffs and clinched the division all the Yankee fans started with their "Yuck Boston" type crap for icons on their profiles so dont even go there my friend. And Yes I do hate the Yankees almost as much as I love the Sox, so what? You dont know anything about being a Red Sox fan so deal with it. As far as myself I have been a pretty good sport about the Sox losing out to the hated Yanks so Im entitled to a little ribbing.

The Yankees losing in the first round of the playoffs ONCE AGAIN PROVES that money doesnt guarantee you to win. So are all of the Yankees haters going to continue using this "crutch" in their arguements year after year? Even though it holds no water of course they will because they have no other way to bash the Yankees. Always a last resort, eh boys?

Right. Spend MORE money next year and lose again and I wont say a thing about payroll.

whah whah whah "you don't what its like to be a red sox fan". For months before the season started certain "boston" fans were talking up the Yankees in nonsportmanlike banter. Those same Sox fans, as well as some Yankee haters continued to talk up the Yankees "demise" until the 5 game series sweep in Fenway. Then, until the Yankees lost in this ALDS, most had shut their yaps.

If there is ANY team in the AL East headed south in the future it is the Red SOx. Their pitching is 10 times more putrid then the Yanks. That combined with a prospect class that was so over hyped its not funny. Well, .... yes it is! image

Nothing personal just excited that the Yanks will not hoist another banner this year. I didnt hide or whine when you guys beat us out, I tipped my hat and paid my end of the bet and moved on, now Im having fun.

no biggie perk, its just that you have guys like ctsox who CONSTANTLY cries his eyes out about payroll...... when IN FACT the second highest payroll in the game was only enough to stumble into a 3rd place finish. You never hear him critisize his own team for having players who make more then entire teams. That is only good when it comes to the Yankees.

I have no problem with what happened today. The Tigers deserve every bit of it.

What does make me laugh, is how MUCH MORE you guys like to talk Yankee shop ..... I have not seen ONE what happened to my pathetic Red OSx thread. Nothing but crickets becuase you are all soooooo infatuated with the hated Yankees. GOOD FOR YOU image

Trash talking is one thing, but to adopt another team's logo that you normally have no interest in into your sig seems a bit extreme. Did Yankee fans adopt Cardinals logos into their sigs in 2004??

Ok? I guess it's "so horrible" to go to the playoffs every year, and only have 4 rings since 1996 to show for it. Yet, you don't seem to get in a huff over a team you only began cheering for when it had stars, and that same franchise has yet to produce even a championship caliber team. Yet, you complain about the Yankees.

Of course you're happy...you're a 'fan' of the yankees not because of the team, but because of their past successes.

You aren't a 'fan' of the team, you only care about boasting that MY team's won the most world series! Forget that 'your' team hasn't been able to buy a world series in over half a decade, despite outspending every other team by $80+ million; that a roster of all stars still can't close shop, and that half the team is eligible for retirement benefits.

I am very happy as a M's fan - I love my team. Would I like them to win a world series? Of course. But them winning it is not why I am a fan. Apparently to you ny yankee dopes, it is.

Dude, who are you kidding! You are no Mariners fan image You use that as a smokescreen and everybody on this board knows it. You have no TEAm. You are no "FAN" of any team. You are a Yankee hater ..... and ironically enough the YANKEES ARE YOUR TEAM.

I do enjoy the Yankees past successes but certainly not WHY I am a fan. I was born into a family of Yankees fans. A strong following that I adopted into my own life and was strengthened when I was able to watch the Yanks beat the Dodgers in the 77 World Series.

If you live anywhere BUT Washington, especially if you live in a state that has teams, somewhere along the line you became a bandwagon fan when the team was doing well. Maybe the love of a west coast team in the playoffs with an east coast team? Is that were the hate stems from? Yes, you would be a bandwagoner and have NO idea what being a fan is...especially a fan of baseball over anything else.

Axhole, it almost sounds to me that you are a fan of the Mariners and dont care if they win? You would like it but it doesnt matter? Then you are probably the ONLY person who is a fan of any team who doesnt care if their team wins or not. Ridiculous and more clearly, BULL$HIT.

And once again it is proven that you can buy a World Series win. So why care if the Yanks dump millions into payroll? Yes, I know..it's an easy crutch so why not use it. I'll tell you why...it has proven to be there is NO truth to it!

You're a fuging idiot who can't read the most BASIC of sentences. You're a fuging idiot who can't understand what I said. I love my team; unlike YOU who is simply in love with the world series trophies, dipchit.

Really? You're going to sit there and say that a high payroll doesn't equate to playoff appearances? You're even more of an idiot than I first suspected (and that's saying something, because I thought you were an idiot of EPIC proportions).

Hey IDIOT, try quoting accurately...that 'quote' is NOT what I said. You seem to have real issues quoting people correctly...the other day it was misquoting steinbrenner, now it's me. Do you know how quoting even works monkey boy?

Forgive the mentally challeged Axhole. He's only been watching sports since 2001. That's why he lives in California and roots for the Mariners (2001) and the Sucaneers (2002).

He also likes to correct the spelling of others while making his own mistakes in the very post, just like the know-nothing blowhard he is.

This coming from a guy who flip flops as eloquently as Dick Cheney. Hell, I've "quoted" you flip-floping your whole arguement in less than a half an hour. Douche.

When was I ever "unsportsman-like" (is that a word?) regarding the Yankees? I seem to remember a whole bunch of "Boston sucks" and "Boston is finished" type threads going on just a short time ago, and we just took them in stride.

Remember, you Yankee fans claim to be the "biggest team in professional sports", and because of all the hype that surrounds your team, you naturally are going to have more people rooting against you. It doesn't mean anything other than a lot of MLB fans like to see the Yankees lose, because of what they represent.

    forgive scrotum-

he likes to say he's a fan of the mets, when, in reality, he'll kneel for whatever team's in first place. First it was the yankmees, then, when that bandwagon collapsed, he says he's firmly back on the mets bandwagon.

Disgusting. And you dare to call yourself a 'fan'. 'groupie' would be a better term for the likes of you.
  • You all cannot call me a fly-by-night Tigers fan. I started the "original Tigers thread," and all I can do is HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHOOOOOOOOOOOOHAHAHAHAHOAHAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!!! Front page of the newspaper here says, "Yankees, go home!" It is so true! I guess this can be chalked up to another Yankee team who "looked beyond" the team right there in front of them, so much for the Subway Series, eh! It is great to be a Tigers' fan, and we in Detroit will show you NY bltches what it is like to really embrace a team that "overachieves!" But, can a team that beat the almighty Wankees, be overachievers? NY Mets, I want you in the World Series, because I am sick of hearing about New Yawk!!!!
