What do you expect? You've got a 100 year old little unit out there, and a rowdy Detroit crowd.

amazing they cashed in that 3rd run on a 2 out single... giambi should have nailed him.
I wonder if sheff makes that throw....

mr. clutch grounds into the 4-6-3 DP. He's so clutch it hurts!!!

  • << <i>mr. clutch grounds into the 4-6-3 DP. He's so clutch it hurts!!! >>

I notice that you didn't mention that Arod grounded out weakly to end the 1st inning with Jeter in scoring position.

Yeah, and ARod with 3 K's yesterday image

And now a weak fly ball to CF....
  • Giambi Sucks, wasnt he the player telling AROD to pick up the slack...
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Giambi stikes out looking! Where's the outrage and crying about his non-performing?
  • kuhlmannkuhlmann Posts: 3,326 ✭✭
AROD swinging a hot 1 for 10 with 4 k's so far. wow what a post season.

man i am so glad the mets screwed up by not getting him. david wright is better right now. i feel bad for arod NY is just not a good fit for him.

jeter 7-11 with a homer so far...arod 1-10 with 4 k's! wow arod might want out of town.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Arod's not the reason the yankees are losing...giambi has been pathetic too.

    I'll say this about Arod.........

    I'd want out of town.

Pudge was out on that play at third. I saw it, Morgan and Miller saw it, and I'm sure you all saw it. Arod knew it and was complaining.

Is there another team he could play for that the manager wouldn't come out and argue and defend his player???????????????????????????

Maybe it didn't mean much to you guys, but Torre sitting in the dugout there spoke VOLUMES to me.

    Am I overanalyzing this??

P.S. Arod is okay by me, I could care less. But with the Yankees, you love them or hate them.
    I hate themimage

Torre should have come out. I have no idea why he stayed put.
  • HyperionHyperion Posts: 7,440 ✭✭✭
easy call to miss, tagging someone up high like that. in the umps defense thats a tough call.

Polanco just got screwed on a foul ball call. ah well.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
I don't hate the yankees..I hate their arrogant (and largely ignorant) fanbase who'd rather have scott brosius on the team than Arod. They'd rather have tino martinez (a career .233 postseason batter) than Arod (.305).

It's comical to see thse clowns falling over themselves efforting to crush Arod - when they should wake and realize what a gifted hitter he truly is.

  • Wow this third base umpire really really sucks. Two horrible calls tonight.

I do. He's under orders from queen george to never defend 'that third baseman'.

    Ridiculous.

GREAT PLAY to rob Jeter by Rogers.

I love the floater he threw to first base image
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Gotta love jeter choking away the game...double play to kill a one out rally, now not even able to get the ball out of the infield.

    CHOKER.

Arod is now 5 for his last 42 (about a .100 average) with 13 Ks and 2 TWO! RBI over his past three postseasons going back to 2004. Those numbers speak for themselves. And though he may have done well early on in his career in the posteason, he is now CAPTAIN CHOKE!

K-Rod, Choke-Rod, E-Rod must be rubbing off on Jeter. Give me Joe Crede any day over that overpaid crybaby.

    You're out of your mind...but then, you're a yankee 'fan' so that's a given.

Arod gets on base...let's see if Giambi can do anything, or if he's going to choke up a lung again.
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
    Giambi 0-3, batting .143 for the playoffs....terrible.

I'm out of my mind, but you have almost 12,000 posts on a message board defending a proven NON-clutch player. Sure, he is a great hitter ............... except when the pressure is on and it counts. Great argument. image

IROD comes through with a clutch 2 out double, driving in Jeter's miscue.

Things aren't looking good. Who are the game 4 starters ?
  • HyperionHyperion Posts: 7,440 ✭✭✭
WOW. they're slamming around the Unit. I feel bad for him image he's a HOF for sure....

Randy Johnson is TOAST. What a disappointment for Yankee fans. How much longer is this guy on payroll?

randy johnson gets blasted for 5 runs while kenny is throwing a gem.

They scored that error on jeter a 'hit'? Ridiculous.
  • HyperionHyperion Posts: 7,440 ✭✭✭
that's pretty bad, I thought a major leaguer could catch a ball like that.
    ah well.

Hometown scoring. It was a tough play, though, to be fair.

I agree it wasn't routine, but it's a play you'd expect someone to make.

Agreed. I've noticed over the years that errors are given less frequently these days, too.

Where was this version of Kenny "Walk Him Home" Rogers in 1999 for the Mets! LOL! What a gem he's pitching tonight!

LOL, did you see Rogers after he covered first ???
he was FIRED UP. he so wanted to spike that ball image

Good for him, he's flat out sucked in the big game (or so I vaguely recall)
  • kuhlmannkuhlmann Posts: 3,326 ✭✭
grote15 i hate kenny rodgers for that reason walking home andruw jones!

man i hope mets play the tigers and mets pound rodgers for 10 runs in 1 inning! to make up for that walk
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
If Arod had made that play, I know they'd have scored it an error.

But jeter's so 'clutch' he gets a pass.

Why is bernie in the lineup? 0-3 with 2 K's? Great move!

I find it rather comforting at this moment that I can take solice in knowing that the Yankees are getting their a$$es soundly beat. Just plain ol beat .......

Rodriguez shrugged when asked about the at-bat against Zumaya. "I asked the ump [home plate umpire Laz Diaz] if he saw any of those pitches, because I didn't see any of them. I didn't see that at-bat."

Bernie is in the lineup because of his past success against Rogers. A-Rod had GAUDY numbers against Rogers, the whole lineup did. To be honest, I don't think it mattered who was run up to the plate tonight ...... they all looked the same to Kenny as he was in just a groove groove groove. Very impressive pitching performance. I tip my cap to Kenny Rogers .... unfortunately.

  • comon tigers put up a dime piece on the yankees!
  • Kenny Rogers made the Yankees look like a bunch of overpaid fools tonight with KING $250 Million Overpaid Fool looking the worst. Some baseball fans forget that ole Kenny Rogers once pitched a Perfect Game when he was on the Texas Rangers, but based upon Roger's past playoff experience and his meltdowns, this was supposed to be a piece of cake for the Yankees. I bet Mets fans are asking themselves why couldn't "Walk them Home" Rogers have pitched like this when he was with them.
