there seem to be quite a few cut up HOF plaques made into those ugly-ass cards.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Or are you just showing the top half with the auto??
The scan looks like my mom took the picture when we were growing up, always cutting off half of someone's face.

That is the whole card. They took a HOF plaque that was autographed, cut off the bottom 3/4 of it, and put what was left in a cheesy silvery frame.
And it is not just Happy Chandler. I've seen many examples on Ebay - Boudreau, Judy Johnson, etc.

How come none of these made any of the ad copy/press releases?

Come on - such nice swatches and otherwise card design, and then you put a cut-up autographed baseball card above that is too small for the window? JEEZ

I originally thought of buying one pack/box - whatever they're called - but after seeing of these ridiculous "cut" signatures, no thanks. I'll just try to pluck a Gwynn off ebay one of these days once the hype subsides.

It's amazing, because the "premier" stuff from this issue really seems to look quite phenomenal. But the drop-off is significant.

They are HOF plaque postcards put out by the Hall of Fame. Unsigned, they are worth a nickel or quarter. Signed, the value depends on who signed it, when they died, etc.
A Warren Spahn plaque may be worth $20-$30, give or take. Here is what a full one looks like

I must admit there is some small amount of genius involved here in the cards. The photo's are excellent and the Kaline-signed ball with the stitching incorporated is inspired. But the price and the rest of their poor design choices turned me off to the product. I may look for interesting single cards on eBay.
I guess I simply can't understand cutting up a plaque like that. To me, the complete auto'd plaque is at least 1000x more interesting/unique/desirable than a cut up version pasted inside of some lame silver card.
I just don't get it.

Ok, nevermind. I just checked ebay and these don't even impress me all that much. I've already got a few Gwynn autographs (in person when I was a kid) and I'm not about to shell out 2 bills for these sad copies. The idea of opening a $250-300 "pack" is intriguing, but I think I'm better off playing the lotto!
dont blame Topps entirely.......Donruss started this 1/1 , 1/10, 1/250 serial number thing years ago and Topps has grabbed the batton and ran with it!!! wasnt the over aggressive serial numbering to create perceived scarcity the reason why Donruss was kicked out of the fraternity? Looks like Topps needs some artistic advice in designing their cards, they seemed to have forgotten the all important eye-appeal!!

Would you pay 250 a pack if this was one of the top pulls in a case?
<< <i>
<< <i>This is the ugliest, most stupid Topps Sterling card that exists, methinks:

The stupidity of the average card collector is utterly boundless. And here's exhibit 'A'.

Where were they found and what is their value?
This idea is absolutely absurd by Topps .... or genius, I suppose, from a financial standpoint.
