5 pounds of silver = ???

If I have a box that I weighed on a normal scale (that one would use to weight oneself) and it should that a box of 90% silver coins weighs about 5 pounds, how many troy ounces is that? Is it 5X12=60 oz. or 5X16=80 oz? In other words, if you were selling the box by the ounce, are you selling 60 or 80 ounces to a dealer/collector? I know this shouldn't be that confusing and I feel stupid for asking, but what the heck. I'm having a "senior moment" so-to-speak. For sake of argument, assume the silver coins are 100% silver and don't worry about the fact that they're not pure.

The last answer gave you everything you need to figure out the answer to your question but didn't exactly answer it. I'll answer directly: There are 12 troy oz in a Troy lb. There are 14.6 (454/31.1)troy oz in an Av pound. Cheers, Jerry
