Dealers keep the hobby moving, one way or the other, without them there would be no middle of the road--------------------------------------------------------BigE
Who on this board doesn't sell coins Pharmer? Every dealer I know is a collector at heart. How many coins do collectors sell on a regular basis? Some people own the coins longer than others. Where do you draw the line?

Not in the least! I wish more dealers would hang here and share their knowledge. >>

I was going to say I've never sold one either, but then I remembered a double-clip I won in a bulk lot that I sold on the BST board.
But that doesn't make me a dealer. I get a new car every few years, and my old one goes out by the road with a for sale sign. This doesn't make me a car dealer.
So I agree with the fact that 95% of dealers are collectors, not all collectors are dealers, even if they sell something from time to time.
I wonder what the true % of full-most time dealers to collectors/non-dealers is on this board.
Of those who are registered or lurk, I would guess it is about 5% dealers, 95% collectors Of those who post frequently my guess would be more like 35% dealers, 65% collectors.
As I've read through this post, which I think is a very good one, my opinion has gone back and forth a few times. Like others have pointed out, even though this is Collectors Universe and not Collectors-Dealers Universe, I don't care what their motives are, since the motive is implicit within the content of what they have to say.

I agree, but some do not share much knowledge. Rather, they make appearances for exposure.

Not so much a thought, as a total lack of thought.
Posting to this board makes everyone here a dealer?
In the same way that writing a letter to the editor makes one a newspaper reporter?
Makes absolutely no sense. You come off as defensive. Or maybe you think this is a dealer site?
And I don't give a crap why a dealer posts here. >>
Prenum, what's your response to my saying your statement is absurd? You don't need others to do your talking, do you? >>
Don, I repeat, please feel free to ignore Pharmer's rudeness. >>
I disagree Mark.

That is rather amusing......

No, not at all.
There is something to learn from everyone.
I am annoyed. I happened to like your having your link at the bottom of your post before you removed it.
Now I have to work to get to your web site!
I thought we were supposed to try to make it easier to link to each other?
A simple little link called "my website" isn't advertising in my book.

Collectors often have these links, as well, or links to other interests, businesses, etc. I recommend leaving it there for our convenience.

and even by trading. We sell those coins we have upgraded, dont collect
any more or just dont want. If we don't sell the coins ourself, then we engage
the services of someone to sell them on consignment or auction.
