StrikeoutXXX YN+ Giveaway - Civil War Half Dollar - **Winner- eyoung429**

AND THE WINNER IS.... eyoung429's 10 year old daughter.

I've been a posting member here going on 6 months now. I've never done my own giveaway, but my 13yo YN has won a few, so I felt it was my time to give a little something back. You can call it my 6-month, 600-post, or just a general thank you from me and my son giveaway.

Up for grabs is a 1995 Young Collector's Edition Civil War Battlefield Half Dollar packet/kit. Pretty sure this is the MS/Uncirculated version. A few pics are below. Store had 2 today and I thought they were really interesting so I bought one for my son, and one for this.

Since this product is sort of aimed at a younger crowd, the following are eligible:

Any self-posting YN (We'll define YN as under 21 for this giveaway)
Any grown-up entering for their YN
*Anybody else who has held/supported a YN giveaway/cause in the last few years and don't fit in the above 2.

*In other words grown-ups can enter for themselves if this item is seriously of interst to you and you've been an active YN supporter. Things like Ken coordinating the YN giveaways, Marty's charity ANA YN auctions, or stuff of that sort will get a grown-up an entry if you desire.

Just reply to the thread and let me know who it's for and I'll use a D&D die or put all the names in the hat or some other fair method depending on how many enter and what's easier. I'll end this as close to 9:00pm EST Sunday the 24th as I can.

Good Luck
Jeff & Tyler

Please include my 7-year old daughter. She really likes some of the commemorative issues and the Civil War one would be really cool for her. Thanks!

The coin itself I believe had a mintage of 119,554. I asked about this particular set in another thread when I saw it at lunch today, and some posters suggested the kit itself only had 1,000 made and others believed it was somewhat hard to find.

I don't think there was much premium over the coin value itself, but it certainly is an interesting item and one of the higher priced modern 50c commems according to PCGS.

    Ummm...I dunno

Seems kinda fishy. I was working the deal with him earlier today and now there's a giveaway?

    I bet he's a spammer.

Doesn't sound like a spammer to me.

As I'm 24, I'm just out of YN status. It bums me out, since I'm just getting back into the hobby after over a decade and I'm always just a few years too old to enter these giveaways!

Still, I tell you what I'll do: If I win, I'll turn around and send a PMG free standard submission certificate, good through 12/31/2007, to the YN or parent-entered YN of my chosing from this thread :-) And for mine, YN will be defined as under 24 :-)

    TTT for the AM Crowd.

tpfnar - please tell me that was a misguided attempt at humor and you're not serious. That other thread was asking for info on the sets, I had never seen them before. When I went back after work, I bought both of them that they had - as clearly stated, one for my son and one specifically for the giveaway.

PM me if you wish to discuss this further, I'd rather not clutter up a YN thread.

I've seen plenty of threads dealing with adults getting kids into coin collecting, but I haven't seen too many the other way around. The whole story would probably make a nice thread of its own.

Please enter my son. He's 8 and loves to collect (so far though, most of his collection consists of my coins that I've found to be cleaned or problematic in some way and things he can pull out of circulation).
He'd love something of his own that dad does not have!
    Thanks,
    Richard
