Hello, everyone. I'm a newbie to the forum. I have been monitoring this forum for the past year or so and have found it a gold mine of knowledge about coins. You guys really know your stuff. Now, who am I? I'm just a middle-class, go-to-work everyday kind of guy with a family (married for almost 30 years). I began picking through pocket change 30 some odd years ago and got hooked, so to speak, on collecting coins. I am certainly not a speculator or investor of coins. Just a typical (I hope) collector of coins. I like proof sets, commemoratives, and the silver eagle proofs. Yes, I have the '95 key date (that stung my wallet in 95). A few gold coins as well, but I certainly cannot afford to build sets like those, that's for sure. I do send coins to PCGS to grade. I don't mess with the other TPGs. I did order the 3-piece eagle gold anniversary, the 2-piece gold and silver and four sets of the 3-piece silver sets. However after carefully reading the input from the forum about the 2-piece gold and silver, I will be pushing the cancel button on this one. The mint misled me on this one, in my opinion. I will be content with the 3-piece gold and the 3 piece silver sets (those will make good Christmas gifts). I will keep the 3-piece gold in the case and send 1 silver set out to be graded by PCGS.
I am working on building a Franklin collection (PCGS grade of MS-63 through MS 65) over the next several years. I will be watching you guys carefully on any information you happen to share about the Franklins in the future. As stated above, you guys know your stuff. I hope to be able to post on things that will contribute to the continued success of this forum. But, again, I'm still learning from the experts, you guys.
Thanks for hearing me out. I hope I haven't bored anyone. If so, I apologize.

Thank you. I did not mean to give details about myself that would cause someone to question my motive. That is the furthest thing from my mind.

I guess you have been lurking for a year so aren't really new, so I should say congrats on posting!
I'm looking for one Franklin Half right now. I'm working on a birthday set, I was born in '56. In that year and many years in the '40s and '50s some Frankies came in mint sets. The cardboard holders the mint shipped those sets in were very cheap. So that ended up toning the coins quite a bit! I'd like mine to be mint set toned and well struck. Of course I would settle for one that came out of a roll and is blast white with loads of luster.

I was born in '50. Currently I have PCGS '55 MS64 FBL, '55 MS 64, and a '54S MS64. Obviously, I've got a ways to go. However, I have a lot of patience and will get there one day.

Good for you on that 95 W silver eagle proof. Did you buy the gold set or one broken out and graded ?

Thank you for the welcome. I purchase the entire set in '95 (gold and silver). The silver came back from PCGS as a 68 DCAMEO. I plan to send the gold ones out in December when I send a set of the 3-piece silver eagles out.
