Doubled Die Error - Yeoman Red Book Style

I discovered this doubled die (actually machine doubled, I presume image ) in a batch of old Red Books I bought recently.

Its a 1967 in tip top shape. Is this a fairly common error book? Is there an error book market??? I've
never seen anything like it? Do I get Stacks, Heritage on the horn?

Or do I keep it for a conversation piece?

Maybe use it as reading material in my outhouse? What would y'all do?

Edited to add: The binding is doubled as well image

  • Keep it unless you can sell it to some wacky error collector for mad money. It's cool.

I'm a little shocked myself...now, if I can figure out a way to cherrypick coins, I'll be in good shape image

Now I'm glad I read what you said before I looked at the photograph or I'd put down this martini and swear off the hard stuff. I know Whitman Publishing has gone downhill lately but that is a good one. It is not listed on pages 392 0r 393 of the 2007 edition. I actually am one of those nuts that collect the Red Book. I've got all from the 8th edition to present. One edition is rather famous for a missing page. Want to sell that one? PM me if you do. I also collect error coins. Don't know what is wrong with me wanting all the error stuff.

Gee, that thing makes my eyes hurt. image

The sad thing is the inside of Red Books from those years had a lot of great information. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the current edition. All I find is one typo or bit of misinformation after another. A couple weekends ago I got tripped up on the mintage of 1935 Arkansas half dollars (page 277, 2007 edition). I knew in the back of my mind that the 1935-P had the highest mintage in the series. Yet there it was in the Red Book listed at 3,012. Sure enough when I got to a decent source, my suspicions were confirmed. The incompetent Red Book editors had not spotted that they had left off the first “1.” The REAL mintage is 13,012. imageimage

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Not sure as I can't remember the date of mine but this may be the one I sold on ebay for about $100.00 a year or so ago. I bought it new - cherrypicked from a batch at a local book store.

coins 101 - I bought the whole lot from the same person......there was a little over 30 books in the bunch, with most being in a plastic cover...
All ranged from 1954? to circa 1980...That would be interesting if it was your book...

Hmmmm....can it be the elusive DDO that has been circulating??? If that's the case, then I feel lucky that he/she didnt pull it from the lot image

Well, we will never know cause I deleted the photos I had of it and I can't remember the date of the book (getting old). I do believe it is around the date of yours, though it seems like it was an anniversary edition. I believe it had some sort of a seal embossed on the cover - like 25 years or what ever. Man, if only I hadn't deleted the pictures and the listing document. It would be really interesting if it were my book! I do know the guy who bought it was collecting them.

Coins101 - So, its probably not the same one...the '67 doesnt have an anniversary stamp or anything

So, you're saying there's only two image
