Is this what is going to happen to the Coin Forum now that OF'ers have nowhere to go?

What are you suggesting? I started here 5 years ago, been here ever since.
"If I had a nickel for every nickel I ever had, I'd have all my nickels back".

What I am suggesting is that 'Word of the Day' was fine for the OF, but it is NOT appropriate for the CF, THAT is what I am suggesting. Also, if you have been here for 5 years, then you should know that 'Word of the Day' is NOT appropriate for the CF. The OF post padders are at it already.

But it is a coin word or phrase, look it up ptarded
"If I had a nickel for every nickel I ever had, I'd have all my nickels back".
  • Options
I see no problem whatsoever with a numismatic word of the day. As a matter of fact it could really help out a lot of newbies. It took me a long time to get all of the lingo straight when I got into this hobby.
  • Options
OK laserart...how's this...(and YES, I DID edit this PM)...

Moose IS a numismatic term, no getting around that....however, why not make the title 'COIN WORD OF THE DAY'?
  • Options
His posts to this thread so far are more numismatically relevant than yours.

Along with the metal detector forum and the world and ancient coin forum, not to mention the General collectibles forum and others. By the way, I do not have to defend my post count to you or anyone else.

Laserart has been a member in good standing for a long time here. So friggin' what if he posts a Word for the Day thread here now and then, or whether he puts "Coin" in the title? It's related to numismatics and that is the only requirement. Most of the problems here originate here anyway, not from the Open Forum.

    Thank you Amanda

Coindexter....your mentioning newbies makes a good point....what part of the thread EXPLAINED to those newbies that it was a numismatic term?

I spoke about numismatics in my earlier post.
As far as what part of the thread clues in newbies, that's where ALL OF US are supposed to participate. That is the point of word of the day threads.

Edited to add: When somebody doesn't come into the thread slinging mud and attacking people that have done nothing wrong, word of the day threads usually evolve into educational banter.

I've also hear the term "Moose" refer to an error coin that displays two different designs. For example, I've heard of a "moose" that has a Statehood Quarter Obverse and a Sacagawea Reverse.

Wow, cool. I want to see that coin, that sounds cool. Not sure how they'd mess that up though.

If I recall correctly that coin is suposed to be struck on the small dollar planchet. I read about this somewhere, but I have no idea if it's true or not.

I have only ever heard the term used (at least in relation to coins) to describe a coin of superlative eye appeal.

Geez, I hate to be the one repsonsible for teaching someone something new.
But really, on a good day , look at direction just one of these word for the day threads goes. Just one word and it blossoms into pictures and other related facts.

Were/are there any coins minted that have an image of a moose on it?

I don`t need the word coin in the title to know that it should be a coin related thread. This is after all the COIN forum.

Thanks alot for the word of the day laser, i learned something today because of it.

    keep up the good work.

what is even more confusing is this little riddle

If a male sheep is a ram and..
a donkey is an ass... then WHY is a Ram in the ASS called a GOOSE ?

Okay, so it was off topic, but a Mule could be a Moose, too.

Wheres Petarded? Petarded has a LIFE and is not on this forum all nite posting. When I DO (or, when anyone that rubs you the wrong way), all you elitists automatically have a massive circle jerk. I piped up as laserart gave the 'Word of the Day' on the OF, and I DIDNT want to see OF topics being brought up on the CF (does anyone remember the 'NASCAR' thread that was in the CF? THAT was punted into hyperspace). YOU ELITISTS have been the ones that have carried on with this thread...notice I havent posted in over 2 hours? I believe I cleared this up about 2 hours ago with a private PM to laserart, so stop all the finger pointing, tongue wagging, and get on with your lives people. And as far as YOU go ss350camaro, or pinto, or yugo, or whatever you wannabe for a car, YOU STFU...
