Ok, so, maybe I am missing something. Where do you see only 8 coins?
I see 23. 7 different dates. Now, I agree that $3000 is WAY too much. Seller also marked as "proofs" so I really don't think they know what they are doing.
But, it is more than $80 worth of coins and more than 8 coins. I mean, if you are going to make fun of someone, at least get the facts straight
(look at all 3 pics. The coins are not all the same...you can tell by the color/spotting. Also, one of the pages has a missing coin)
Bochiman is correct: 23 coins. One has heavy pvc damage.
Still too high, but I don't think that the seller is stupid or fishing for a sucker. My guess is that the seller inherited the coins and, having absolutely no knowledge of coins, is afraid to sell them too cheap. A local coin dealer probably offered her $250 and she thought that he was ripping her off. Maybe an uncle or someone told her that they were rare? I think that she will keep relisting the coins with a lower price until they sell.
Also.....wouldn't it be nice to know the mint marks of the Morgans?
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
