Are you a Buyer of the .9999 Gold Buffalo Coin in 2007 ?

In a CoinWorld interview Sept. 25th, David Lebryk indicated that the .9999 Gold Buffalo coin Proof and Uncirculated will be produced in 2007. Also, Proof and Uncirculated Fractional Versions were a "possibility". Would you be a Buyer of either or Both Versions ? Yes, sign me up for a Mini-Herd !

They are going to offer unc in a set of 4, also a set of 4 1/10 oz coins from each mint.

I wouldn't buy a 2007, but id buy a set of 4 if they did the full run !!! just cause I think they'd be neat small.

I hear sales of the 2006 Gold Buffalos tanked when the mint began selling the 20th Anniversary GAEs. I've also read that initial sales were only good in the States, not too much activity with it overseas. It may take a few years to gain acceptance and market share. But right now the 91.7% bullion coins rule in international markets.

They should change the design every year to gather more interest in the series.

I would buy one if they had st george slaying a buff on the back. THAT would rock.

Bring on the heard, I like them better than the eagle anyway. I hope the buffalo does tank in 06 that will make the mintage lower for the proofs.

I'd like to own a Proof example of this coin when the prices get closer to melt. The coin is quite attractive as Proof. The Unc. version does not do much for me. Chances are I'll end buying one in the secondary market sometime in the next couple of years.

And oh yes, I don't want the coin in a slab. The mint package is what I'm looking for.

What do you think, Mr. Bigglesworth?

4 coins might be to much. But maybe 2.

A 1 oz and maybe a 1/4 or 1/10 oz might be pretty cool.. Kind of like a Golden Nickel.

I bet that would be a good seller.

With that said is there going to be a Gold American Eagle? I would think not.....

I would not be a purchaser of the 1 oz coins proof or unc, unc would only be from a potential investment purpose.....

Now if they do 1/10 oz proofs that would likely interest me as would a 4 coin 1/10 oz proof set.....

They are a very nice looking pure gold proof coin and I will need one to go with my 2006 PR.
  • both - they will probably be offered to me at melt

I'd buy a 94th Anniversary three-coin gold set that was proof, unc (with W) on burnished planchet, and reverse proof limited to 10,000 sets. Also, I may purchase the 2007 restrike set of the 2001 Commemorative Buffalo in previously stated versions if it was limited to 250,000. But no sale on the 2 coin gold and silver set.
  • None for me! image
  • yes, but it depends on how many the mint makes as to how many I will buy.

  • I'll probably buy a $800 savings bond instead.

I'll probably sell some to Derek, right after I "help" him confirm the latest melt prices. I feel he'll appreciate my taking the trouble, and being such a forthright and honest character himself, he won't hesitate to believe the same of me! image
