A bit of Borneo en route... (COIN ARRIVED)

NEN has a number of British North Borneo pieces at the moment. I opted for one of the less pricey pieces:

1891-H 1c, NGC MS65 BN. I like the blue/purple overtones. I only hope that the scratch at 3:30 pm on the obverse is on the holder...

Nice looking coin. I would say that's on the holder--might even be a hair or piece of material.

    You're sure it's not at 3:30 am ? image

It looks like a great coin and the "scratch" doesn't looks like damage. Perhaps a hair on the coin/lense/holder?

Just called 'em to make sure before the coin shipped. Yep, it must have been a hair or fibre that got in the way; not on the coin.

Chris remarked that he bought one from this group for himself and it was a tossup between the one he took and this one (now I'm wondering what the other one looked like image)

I like the aesthetics of this piece even better than most of the other Borneo pieces have listed, including the specimens. This one appears to have very nice surfaces with lovely blue overtones.

One of my favorite all-time designs on the obverse; this is an outstanding example!!!!!

NEN has some great coins. I have my eyes set on their Brittish "1797 $1 C/S on Mexico 1788 Mo Fm 8R.", but it will be a while until I can spending almost 1,000 on a single coin.

Tell me about it... although my sights are set even higher. image

I'd love to own the one below, but $1,750 is even considerably above Spink.

The 2006 Spink lists this proof at 800 quid, which is about $1520 presently.

Well the Borneo piece is here and it's a beaut! Neither NEN's nor my pics do it justice. I clearly think it's nicer than those remaning in NEN's inventory.

Very even and lustrous. More of a dark bluish chocolate as in my pics; NEN's pics are too bright.
