I've seen these before. They are actual ASE which have been aftermarket doctored into reverse proofs. They DID NOT come from the mint that way. The seller should state this in the auction if he didn't.
I did some research on this and actually got a-hold of someone that knew all about them. These were UNC 2002 ASE's that were highly whizzed then the devices were very carefully covered so that the fields could be sand-blasted. The edges were then shined with baking soda. They were made for sale on the tele. One recently sold on the Bay as the genuine article (for $90) but after the sale things were set straight. Steer-clear of these except as curiosity's. Here's bad/quick photos...

Wow! Sounds like someone went to a lot of trouble on those.....wonder if they ripped enough people to make it worth it? Thanks for the info Lostsisler.

Edit: oops I just noticed you wrote 2002 reverse proof. I was thinking 2006 - never heard of a 2002 reverse proof??
<< <i>No, it's not a scam, but he won't be able to ship until about the end October. In the meantime you can buy them direct from the mint. >>
Will it be dated 2002?

Thanks,

Would you like it dated 2002?
I think the seller just put in the wrong date.

Could this be a after market coin such as Franklin Mint etc? I agree the seller should fully state what it is.
