It could be that these were early experiments. None of the coins (with the exception of the now infamous 1904-O and maybe the proof war nickel) have toning that is very attractive, in my opinion. So I would call most of these experiments failures. And as failures, I would expect that there wouldn't be much profit in disposing of them.
Greetings, I made a comment about this, after seeing these coins before, and after I'm kind of speechless. I can't seem to find original thread that started this.
