What's the consensus of the potential for the ASE 3 coin gold set?

I am on the fence leaning 60-40 towards spending the $2,600 for the set. I seriously doubt if they will sell the 10k sets.

I'm thinking the best bet will be the SAE set, not the GAE. There are tons of silver eagle collectors and registry players and the set will have two special types, the W mintmarked UNC and the reverse proof. No doubt they will be required for the registry. 250,000 is no small mintage but in the SAE universe they will be considered scarce.
  • I'm getting one. 10k sets? That's nuttin'.

The 3 piece silver AE set! Count me in. How many of you realize that the reverse proof...... has a 'P' mintmark? Are there any other proofs out there with a 'P' mintmark???

  • I'm getting one for sure, maybe two of the GAE sets. Stone cold winners.

and it's 2610.00 each. Where they came up with the ten bucks tacked on the end is beyond my comprehension

I noticed that too image Yes, the gold sets will certainly be big winners. The reverse proof in that set will indeed be limited to 10,000 - a very low mintage for a "special" coin, which will be necessary for true completion of the set.

    Just like the '95-W ASE.

Yes...1993 to 2000 were all minted at the mother mint.

The extra $10 is chump change after the $2,600!

Didn't they originally want to charge $875 for the Proof Buffalo until we all screamed? Round that down $5, then multiply it by three and you get $2610. I guess they read "Marketing For Dummies" down there.

As to which is the best buy, the P-Mint Reverse Proof gold will have the lowest net mintage at 10,000. The W-mint Unc gold will appear in both the three-coin gold sets and the two-coin gold and silver sets for a net mintage of 30,000. The Proof gold is just a normal Proof.
