MS66. A couple hits on the Union cap and what appear to be a couple minor hits on the bottom of the shields will hold it back. The unbelievable eye appeal of that coin make up for the hits for me. Thats one of the nicest Gettysburgs I have seen. I wish I had the cash.
If the picture shows correctly, there are hits on the hat and beard on the obv and a relatively significant hit along the left shield on the reverse. They eye appeal is enormous, but I can't see how this coin could technically grade above a 66?
<< <i>How does a Gettyburg like that not get a star (*)? >>
We sent it in for regrade with Star designation review and they said "Thanks for buying us lunch and sent the coin back with no star in the same grade."
I would expect NGC to give this Getty a technical grade of MS66, with a bump point for the obverse special toning. Too many hits for MS67, and the reverse toning is nothing special.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

I saw the coin in Denver and it is very pretty! I agree that it is deserving of the star designation! Brandon could have easily convinced me I couldn't live without it if I didn't already have this one:

I wonder if PCGS would cross it at 67 >>
IMHO, no.
I think it would be a 66 and be PQ with PQ PCGS 66 price.
I showed the images of the first coin to my wife and she said "It looks like MS66 to me." That's my girl....a conservative grader! (She's been to quite a few coin shows and looked at more than a few coins.)

It was a toss up betweeen a one point bump or a star. The dart landed on point.

<< <i>Here you go:
Being an NGC 67, IMHO that would be the equivalent of a PCGS 66. It would be a PQ 66 but still a 66
