Paul Green, RIP

I don't have much information, but I've been told that long-time writer for Numismatic News, Paul Green, passed away Monday, August 21, at his home in Costa Rica. When he lived near Madison, Wisconsin in the late 1980's, Paul and I co-wrote a book about baseball cards. He later moved to Key West, Florida, then to Costa Rica, and usually had an interesting coin "profile" piece in most issues of Numismatic News.
Paul Green was one of the good guys of the hobby.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

and elsewhere were always of the highest caliber. His writings about the coins of
Central America and Costa Rica were among his finest.
He will be sorely missed in numismatics.

Paul Green was a great numismatic writer who could discuss any topic without "talking down" to his readers. We will miss him. Our condolances to his family and friends.

Just found out about Paul Greens passing. I am very sad. He was a fantastic numismatic writer. I enjoyed all of his articles and his pick of the week in NN was the main reason I subscribed to that publication. Will miss him. Hope he had a great life.
