Do you thank your postman ? if so how ?

My postie is a very nice guy imo......and I'd like to thank him for his service.

Should I buy him a small gift ( ie scratch cards ) ? or will that just scream ' the packages you deliver are valuable' ?

Any thoughts appreciated.

A Christmas card with a little cash is nice (or maybe a gift card/certificate). I haven't done that for a couple years, but our current postman goes out of his way to be friendly and helpful. He will be getting a card this year.

hook 'em up with a GC for a meal someplace !
I did that last year because of how many times he had to bring me a package to be signed for !

My regular letter carrier is a great guy. We always get him something at Christmas. I believe money is a no no in the US, but I also think people ignore this.

  • We had the same postman for about 12 years. I got to know him fairly well. When there was a signature package or package too big to fit in the mailbox (I also collect model trains so this happened quite often), he would always stop his vehicle and bring it to the door.

Every year we would give him a Christmas card with $20 in it.

About 2 months ago he had to switch routes and the new "postwoman" does not do anything like that

    No Christmas card this year.

My wife gave a bottle of wine to the postman, he appreaciated it very much. It's not usual to give something to the postman here in Germany.

I'm shameless. I give him huge tips and have given strict orders to my assistants to closely follow the same rules when I'm not around. He's a very nice guy anyway and probably aware of the fact that the total incoming and outgoing per year is a very strong number. Christmas ,Easter and August are excuses for even higher tips and that's how I sleep easy at nights. image
