Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I don't see the tell-tale signs of negatives building up prior to NARU - maybe he just forgot to pay his monthly paypal fees or he didn't want to provide a copy of his drivers license or whatever.
I'd give him a call and ask what's up if you have his number though.
90% chance you'll see the coin. Why shouldn't he complete the transaction? He's been registered on ebay for 8 years, over 160 positive feedbacks in the last six months and no negs. He's gonna screw around on a $180 deal? Where else would he go? Doubt he wants to re-register and have a -0- feedback again.

What a cry-baby. He should have put a reserve on the coin if he didn't want to lose money on it. >>
It's not that the seller will refuse to honor the deal -- it's that the seller got NARU'd.
If it's just an administrative thing -- failure to pay fees in a timely manner or something -- they could be back as soon as the matter is settled. Given this seller's history, I think the OP will still see the coin. It doesn't look like the seller was NARU'd for being a bad seller or for perpetrating scams -- the OP wouldn't deal with that kind of seller anyway, most likely.
Very Good Chance you'll see it. Being NARU'ed has little to do with PayPal and if the coin does not show, get your money back. However, given the recent rash of EBAY inquiries, a lot of seller's and buyers are getting temporary suspensions for one reason or another.
I recently had a seller send the wrong item and then he got NARU'ed shortly after I returned the item for a refund. Well, he's back, I got my refund and all is well.
Good luck on whatever happens though!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
I give you a %75 chance of getting the coin. Hopefully he simply changed credit cards and forgot to update his eBay account info or something along those lines...
There are many reasons someone can be NARUd. Judging from his feedback, I am pretty positive you'll get your coin. Just because he got NARUd doesn't mean he's dishonest. You made the transaction and I believe he'll honor your transaction.
Good luck to you.
Jonathan
I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
I agree, chances are very good that you will receive with no problems. On the other hand, the downside for you is next to nothing, if you funded your PayPal payment via a credit card. If the PayPal recovery procedure doesn't work for you, the chargeback with your credit card company most certainly will!

I wouldn't worry, I just finished up a transaction on a $900 coin with him. Bought it 8/2 and received it on 8/7/06. I highly doubt he is scamming you.
Sad thing is I can't leave him positive feedback.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?
Sounds like you'll get it. Looks like a lot of coin for the money, too -- and depending on how bad the damage is in hand, the "cleaned" part might not be the big deal it sounds like, since lots of those in PCGS, NGC, and non-net-graded ANACS holders have been cleaned too. A couple months in a Taco Bell napkin should revive it nicely
I'm sure you guys are probably right. It is one layer of protection though we loose as buyers when eBay does this to a seller.
As far as the coin? It's going to be popped out of its plastic and placed neatly into a Whitman Type Set and should live happily everafter (that is... if it arrives).
I think that you will get it within the next few days--being Narued is not always the fault of the seller--Ebay is very wierd and getting wierder all the time. Maybe he just forgot to pay his bill on time. JMHO-Please Let us know the outcome--Bob

What a cry-baby (the seller). He should have put a reserve on the coin if he didn't want to lose money on it-assuming that this is what happened???

Why is he a cry-baby? I don't understand.
I think that you'll see the coin - hopefully it's just a temporary suspension.

The name is LEE!
(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?
Given the seller's feedback score, I think there is an almost certain chance you will get the coin.
Good luck to you.
