I just bought one of these for myself recently, a 1900 PCGS 60 / Rattler - and I guess I just want to say that I never before appreciated how cool these coins really are!

As a collector of PCGS Mint State $20 Gold, this is very sad to see indeed. I understand that PCGS now market grades $20 gold based on the year and mint, but this is really unacceptable.
Techeff, did you actually purchase this coin? If so, I don't mean to "bag" on your coin. If so, I hope you paid way back of greysheet bid for it. If so, did you buy it online or in person, sight unseen or sight seen? If so, are you happy with the coin in person?
Best regards,

So is this an NGC 67 since PCGS grades more conservatively? I'm surprised that hasn't been said by the 'only PCGS' suporters. I know you can't grade 100% from an image, but if that 65 turned into a 62, it would be more believable.

I fell in love with the coin and paid a 50% premium for it!
No, not really. I may be crazy, but I’m not insane… I came across this coin while searching through a recent Heritage auction. The coin didn't sell...
FYI it's a dealer bulk submission that was reholdered at some point. I'm thinking it may have been graded back when the barcodes were on the front and then recently reholdered?

Where are all the kool-aid drinkers defending PCGS grading?

They are cool. And they add heft to a slab.

I'll give it a 60.
Fooled me. I can handle the ticks in the fields, but the hits on Liberty were just a bit much for a 65, imo.
I disagree.

Most of the scratches in the fields and the white spots on the obverse are on the holder, what you see on the cheek is on the coin.
Yes, I wish my lighting was better too:

See my comment on the great strike...
Then again PCGS grading guarantee needs to be applied here.....
