Question for all the hoarders out there...

MadMartyMadMarty Posts: 16,697 ✭✭✭
For all the people who hoard that one coin.... What percentage of the total population do you own?

I confess, I have one coin I have been hoarding (when I can find them), I currently own almost 2% of the total population of this coin. How about you other hoarders???
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I started hoarding 1953 Proof DDO Lincolns. Since there is no pop report, I have no idea, but I am not done collect them yet.

I hoard National Bank notes from mine and my wife's hometown. I own approx 25% from my hometown (12 notes) and in excess of 50% of my wife's hometown (82 notes). This includes large and small size notes.

My collection leans towards deep/ultra cameo 1964 Kennedys, both regular and accented hair. I own a "comfortable" percentage, mostly because the pops are relatively small. I picked up my latest 67 ultra cameo accented hair a couple of weeks ago from a renowned Chicago area dealer/collector.

My favorite coin is always my next one; something that has driven me for years.

Hey Marty, does Russ own the other 2% or does he have more ?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I don't hoard anything. There is too much cool stuff out there to tie up money in multiple of examples of the same item.

Aside from whatever duplicates might be in a few rolls of circulated Buffalo nickels and wheat cents that I have, I can only think of a couple duplicates I have in my 19th century presidential campaign collection. I have one example of a Jackson piece with and without a hole at the top, and I have a couple examples of a Seymour piece, one on a very thick planchet and another on a thinner planchet.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It's been said that I currently own 50%-66 2/3% of the known population of the die #6 WCE elongated. I think it might be slightly less than that. Maybe closer to 33 1.3%
  • Would it not be polite to ask what it is that you are 'hoarding' MM? besides that weenie dollar?

with the total population of morgans 78-21, i doubt that I have put a dent in the manner of 'hoarding'.

but I do have a lot of rolls of wheats and frankies, and roosies, and well a lot of rolls of small stuff.

maybe one day I'll have a mass giveaway and then just fade from reality..............

Let's see - until his eBay auction is over, I believe he owns 40% of the inverted MM Kennedy. Even after that, he falls to a paltry 30% of known specimens. image

I'm too new in the game to have a % of any coin, but I think I have a few % of old military challenge coins from units I was in.
