Too bad there are those cuts on the reverse. Not sure if it would get body bagged at PCGS or not, but I'm willing to try!

Nice snag, from the final bid it looks like you weren't the only one to see it. I wonder what that seller was thinking when her $2 coin hammered for over $160.

You might get it slabbed as authentic, but it looks like it had a one-night-stand with some nic-a-date.
    "Vou invadir o Nordeste,
    "Seu cabra da peste,
    "Sou Mangueira......."
  • I don't think it's an acid date- here is a better quality close up of the date area. There is definitely wear, but no acid:

nice pick. You might consider future cherry picking with just a snipe at the auction close...lest you tip others off of your find with your ebay ID. People can and do search for items by which bidder is already bidding on an item

    Great cherrypick!
  • Wow , great cherrypick. Looks like it. I think i even see the Die crack that can be seen on most 18/7 Buffs.

  • I definitely had luck on my side. This is even more interesting because about 7 years ago I picked one at a local coin show for $8. It slabbed ANACS G4. Like an idiot I sold it right before the price jumps for $315. I kicked myself for selling it then, this makes it a little better image This also after I just bought a PCGS G6 from a board member that is in my registry set. I went from none to two in less than a month!

  • Not picking on you or this transaction in particular , but as an example . Buyers should be aware of their state laws regarding sales tax . This auction stated that there is a 6% sales tax for delivery in connecticut . There is no sales tax on coins in this state . There are about a dozen or so states that do not charge sales tax on coins and or paper money . The seller either doesn't know , or is just getting more out of buyers . At a $165 sale , 6% is $9.90

Buyer and seller of vintage coin boards!
  • Great find! I'm sure PCGS will "market grade" this coin. Nice and original overdate. You now have enriched the hobby by IDing such a great variety for future collectors to enjoy.

None of my buffalo cherries can come close to this. I've located several Unc 38-D/S, three 35 DDR. I would love to find a 36-D 3and 1/2 legger.

    Congrats.

I cherried one at a show in marietta OH a few years back and sold it too cheap, too. Wish I would have held on to it for a few years.

Back in the '60's these could be found unattributed in low grade without too much trouble-I must have cherried more than a dozen, one in VF for $8 around 1965 or so.

Great eye and even better cherrypick, T. As for this

    << <i>At a $165 sale , 6% is $9.90 >>

it's a very good point. However, in THIS case $9.90 is nothing. image
  • who would have thought! Someone actually got a good deal on ebay!
