I cant run my mouth on this win, BUT the mark of a great team is the ability to find away to comeback and win. They never panicked and the D shut down the Buffaloes.

When the Patriots won their Superbowls, I don't recall that they ever crushed bunches of people -- just did enough to win when needed. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Agreed. Maybe I under estamated the Bills but I really thought we would blow them out, VERY happy we got the win to say the least.

So did Vegas...what were they calling it...10 points?
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,696 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yes, the line was 10 today. The Bills were a great bet with the pts. They always play real tough the first couple of games (remember they actually shutout the Pats in the opener a couple of years back) and 10 pts is almost always too high for a divisional matchup.

Jets on the plate for this Sunday. I think the Jets played better week 1 than I thought they would (just like the Bills)

Im not taking them lightly but thinking we will come out to the good.

Patriots move to 2-0, running game looked good. The secondary got exposed a bit today, Cotchery's 71 yarder was a circus play so whatever there....Coles TD however was a DISGUSTING display of tackling or lack of tackling. Sitting on a 24-0 lead the game never should have ended up so close. Belicheck of a few years ago would have gone for the first down that deep into Jets territory to seal the game, up in the air about that call.

Bottom line 2-0 against the division and looking good so far, although not the look of a Super Bowl contender just yet.........
  • The secondary needs to tackle. The Coles TD... are you kidding me?? How many guys are gonna miss that. But the key thing is.. 2-0.

First time I've seen the Pats play this year. If you haven't already figured it out, they aren't going to any Super Bowl any time soon. Man they looked terrible. I can't believe how far they have fallen. image

Well one bad game is what it is, the passing game will get better as soon as Jackson gets healthy and Gabriel gets to know the Offense and get in sync with Brady. I agree we dont look like a Super Bowl team, Bob Kraft is going to realize you cant hoard $$$ under the salary cap and produce a contender every year, the talent he has let go in the secondary and kicking game is painfully obvious that it needs to be re-addressed.

No kidding, they should have "franchised" Vinitieri again. I really thought they would work something out with Branch -- either Branch would not budge, or the Pats think their current receivers will develop enough this year.

Well, this year will be a true litmus test for the Patriots "system".

The Pats have become just another decent team hoping for a playoff berth. They are certainly not on the same level as the Pats teams of years past. This team could easily be 1-2.

Looking good so far, I know a lot of people thought we would get smashed in Cincy but it looks like that might not be the case............

I think Cincy may have more talent but I've learned never to bet against the Pats. They are too well-coached and they make few big mistakes.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭
    Agreed.

    WE NEED A NEW KICKER
  • They deffinately need a kicker. Too many missed chances. But, they did what they do best... get the job done.

I would get Palmer out of there! Our D is just too much for him.....image
  • Defense shut them down, offense scored points.. but they really need someone who can kick a fieldgoal. Go from one of the top kickers in the league to... ummm.. someone who is under 50%.

It sure seems the Pats learn a lot from their losses and make the appropriate adjustments. Impressive domination of the Bengals. The announceers said that their was no "changing of the guard in the AFC" today!!
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭
I will step up and say I thought we were walking into a buzz saw in Cincy yesterday, especially after the way we played against the Bronco's, but like I said after that game the same applies here....its ONE game, but to go into another team's backyard (let alone the Bengals) and dismantle them says a lot. Hopefully WERE BACK AND IN CHARGE!!!!

The bottom line is that the Patriots are the best coached team in the NFL. You don't consistently win this many games that the "on paper" numbers say you should lose otherwise.

    Well said Ziggy............image
  • Heard Belichek on the radio yesterday. He said that in drafting he looks for players with a
good moral background, unselfish, and have played on a team that stresses the team concept.
It works, and the smart players in the NFL know this

Nobody is a better example of Brady either, he really is a team player and leader, and to boot an all around decent guy.
  • So.. just curious.. when they drafted Gostkowski did he know he was a good team player.. but couldnt kick a field goal to save his life?
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭

<< <i>So.. just curious.. when they drafted Gostkowski did he know he was a good team player.. but couldnt kick a field goal to save his life? >>

Im going to go out on a limb here and say.........NO FREAKIN WAY!
  • Maybe Gostkowski is a good "team player" in the locker room and that is why they havent tried to get someone new...lol. Sorry... just a bit worried that in the big game, down by 3... that he will miss like a 30 yard FG and cost them the game.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,661 ✭✭✭✭✭
I agree with you 100%, I would in no way feel comfortable with him in with the game on the line. I think Belichek and CO. are sticking with him for the benefit of the doubt maybe, his kicks have been blocked so it might not be his fault on one of those misses and another one he did slip so they will stick with him for a few more weeks but I will be willing to bet that if he costs them games then he will no longer be in uniform for too long. Nice guy or not. The Pats will do what is best for them, looking at the Branch situation he was a loyal Patriot and Super Bowl MVP but when it came down to money the Pats let him go.
