    Interesting question. I like pirates, although Mary Read is not a favorite, I recalll her being rather viscious even for a pirate.

    I'll bet she didn't look that good in real life. I'll bet she stank and only took a bath once every couple of years whether she needed it or not.

    From what I've understood, lady pirates had to look like men to survive.

    The model for Scot's Ms. Liberty was said to be Anne Willing Bingham, who was a wealthy Philadelphia socialite.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible.     Based on what Mr. Jones has said perhpas the relationship is more that the artist that made the drawing based his image of Mary Read on Liberty.

    I don't know about the U.S. cent, but she has been featured on a Cuban coin.

    I was thinking more along the lines like he told No!
