What do you think about the toning on this half dime?

I'm thinking about getting this half dime. What do you think about the toning? An End roll toner?

No, it's not an end roll toner. I'm suspicious about it.

Definately get the second one...nice mule.image

Edited to add...Both pics appear to be badly overlit. The coins appear badly cleaned.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I don't like it. Doesn't look natural. My guess is cleaned and AT'd

The color and sufaces of the capped bust half dime are leaving alot to be desired. That being said, it is an R4 variety (LM4 with retained cud above cap).

Yucky looking coins, but they are 100% natural old album toning.

my guess is the real one (the first one posted) looks nice in hand since it is so small in comparison to the large photo.

Here's an exact size image of the coin. I cropped out the red background and resized the photo to make the coin 15.5mm in size. This is as close to looking at the coin in hand as I can reproduce on a computer screen for ya'll.

Harshly cleaned long ago...then lovingly placed in an album. All natural but certainly not that nice imo.

I agree... no way this is "AT"... it's very much so a natural toning from an old album... and as many of these coins you'll see, this was likely cleaned before going into that album...

Save your dough and put it in a jar. Wait for the "right" half dime to come along, then open the jar.

I hate to be the 'pot stirrer', but IMHO, if those two H10's were housed in TPG slabs, the consensus would be quite different and congratulatory.image
