Anyone receive their 2006 US Mint sets???

I placed my order 5 minutes after they went on sale and the site still says in process and then down below it says in stock and reserved.

Whats the deal???

I got mine yesterday. Satin finish for sure but the worst I have ever seen. I think they figured out how they can muck up a good thing! Ha ha ha.

It sure seems like I batch about the mints products alot lately...........................but, 2006 is not going to be the best of years in my opinion!

I hope your sets are better than mine were.

Rec'd mine yesterday, as well, via Subscription Service.
Not the greatest sets, either. Too much bother to return
    them, tho...
  • The quality of mine sucks! Half the coins have a nice ding on them and a Nebraska quarter has some dark stains on it. I find better coins in change.

The phase, "In stock and reserved", means they are getting close to being shipped, The next step will be for the cancel button to disappear and then they are shipped. Your getting close to receiving them.

I had a subscription and got my two yesterday.

Satin finish, and very nice quality. Sounds like I got lucky.

Ordered mine the evening of the first day they were on sale. Received them yesterday.

    Haven't opened them yet.
OK opened nice brown boxes and the number I ordered.
  • I received five Saturday, and i've only opened one set so far. The one set I opened didn't seem to be too satiny, more like really nice uncirculated coins.

I received mine today. The D package is hideous. Black spotches all over both sides of the sac dollar and the others look like they were scraped off the floor and packaged. I'll have to send them back, they are just too ugly. Even my 8-1/2 yr old granddaughter noticed how unsightly they were. I haven't sent anything back to the mint before; will be the first time for me. Last year the 2005 mint set, which was my first one, had a v-cut into the edge of kennedy half dollar. I kept that set as i thought it was interesting and just ordered another. But this 2006-D set is totally unacceptable.

Haven't gotten mine yet, but I also ordered both proof sets and a proof silver eagle (to save on S&H). Don't know if that makes a difference or not. image

    I got mine a few days ago ( a subscription for 2 sets ).

I decided to open up one and take a look now.

Why can't they strike a decent coin in Denver image

I looked at the uncirc mint set again this morning. The D set has a lot less satin finish on them. I was going to return it, but am having second thoughts as I like the non-satin finish on the kennedy half.

Interestingly, the P set has the kennedy half dollar in the package backwards, that is its reverse faces out with the obverse of the other coins. Is this anything significant as far as intact mint sets go? Does this make it a keeper?

This is strange, my Denver's were the best out of all 6 sets! With the Colorado quarter being the best yet!

We got our bulk order today. The Philadelphias have very deep satin finish. The Denvers barely have any. Watch for big hooplah when people have Denver Mint coins certified as MS-69 or whatever without "Satin Finish" in the description.

I have to agree with CaptHenway. All 10 of my D sets look far from satin finish and the P sets are "satiny" as hell. Boy is there going to be some controversy about these being labeled wrong in PCGS and NGC holders. Here is my

    POST on it yesterday...

I did a quick review of a few sets I received. The Philadelphia coins are very nice, with a nice thick satin/matte finish, with few marks. My Denver coins are the other extreme with little apparent satin finish, with some coins exhibiting heavy marks and/or spots.

    Even stranger...

I just got a knock at the door and sure enough it was the mint sets, funny thing as you know I posted yesterday that the site showed they had not been shipped. Even funnier still is I go to the website and punch up the order and it says... 20 units shipped on 07/26/2006.

Dang, that is some fast shipping.

Got mine today, after a short week's waiting, the Denver Sac looks like she took a shower and forgot to rinse....spots, spots, spots.

But the most interesting thing was the Phil. Nebraska quarter die crack.

    I'll post a picture soon.

Coins are back in the mail to the mint as returns. Hope none of you are the unfortunate ones receiving the very poor quality coins in my sets. I only kept 2 of the best sets. Good luck in your searches!image

I got my uncirculated set a few days ago, and I'll echo what the others have said. The Philly coins have a nice, satin finish while Denver's has virtually no satin finish. None of the coins in my 2005 set had a satin finish. image
