Thinking about gold at this level... What would you buy?

Right now it seems you can pick up a 1oz. Krugerrand cheaper than you can buy gold bars on-line....? Anyone out there have links to web sites selling gold closer to spot. Right now Gold is at $ 633... I can buy a Krugerrand for $ 646. I assume this is the closest I can come to spot... no? Thanks.

  • Krugs usually have the lowest premium over spot.
  • GB's
  • Does that include shipping? Also, you might try poking around here .

    Never buy bars.

KR's are the best buy in gold bullion.

I'd stick to purple / blue proof IHCs - the more vibrant the color, the better - you can get gold anywhere. image

seems to have the best price

stick with the KR and not bars
  • I have had good luck with bulliondirect.com as well. They got me my gold to hold in a short amount of time. Just as soon as my check cleared they sent it out.

I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
  • I just checked California Numismatic Investments' site. They are showing KRs at $644. I have bought from them before and they are very quick shippers and everytime I've talked to them they are very nice.

And just checked American Precious Metals Exchange: They have KRs at $642.95 and for 10 or more their price is $640.95. Haven't done business with them before.

Why not just buy First Strike Gold Buffaloes? Robert Chambers has them on Coin Vault for..... Oh, never mind. image

This questions crops up periodically... the Kurgerrands usually have the lowest premium over spot, but that goes both ways--buying and selling. Look for the common bullion with the lowest premium over spot, GAE, Maples, Krugerands, (gasp!!)Buffalos etc. CNI usually has almost the lowest prices with only a 2K minimum with free shipping last I checked CNI/golddealer/. Tulving has great prices if you can stand the minimums (I like them for reality checking the prices). APMEX will take credit cards (for an extra 3%). It is best to look closely to make sure of the spot being used to calculate the price...sometimes any one of these sites can be a bit slow.

oh, and ajpm.com is one worth a look as well.
