Is there any premium for the pointed 9 versus the blunt 9?

There might be in the future if PCGS ever recognizes this variety. Collector demand may increase. Ya never know.

Not anymore. Was back in 1964, 65 but then interest waned and now no one cares.

Except maybe Russ. He doesn't pay a premium, but I believe he used one of them as a marker for 1964 proof sets that may have AH halves.

The 1964 pointed tail dime was one more gimmick that some dealers used to get more money out of collectors for something that something less than insignificant. Guys like me who warn people about this stuff get slammed. Then when we tell you, “I told you so!” nobody cares because they can’t remember the item ever existed.

    Here’s a couple more:

The 1965 “dot” cent, which was to have filled Denver mint hole in your penny board – mint marks were temporally suspended in ’65-7 to discourage hoarding.

The 1973-S Proof cent – Lowest mintage since the 1914-D cent! Woopie! It’s worth $20 today and will be worth hundreds tomorrow. NOT!

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
  • I did get a premium for a pointed nine dime in NGC PF 69 Ultra Cam. It brought more than a regular one in the same grade.

You know Carl, if I had yours I would own 100% of the population in 69UCAM!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I sure didn't get any premium on the two PF69UCAMs I've handled. image

I thought you got a premium price on a raw Proof 1964 dime! I seem to remember paying more than the going eBay price for one...

Now I wish you would find some raw Cameo SMS Jefferson nickels. And then I wish you would put them on eBay because you are focusing on halves and can't be bothered to send those silly Jeffs to the grading services. image

Ask MadMarty. He wants 'em all. Especially if they're still in the set with an accented hair Kennedy...image
