    holes plugged....15-1, 16-0 maybe?

Eagles bashers are in for a rude awakening this season. Of course, when the Eagles crush the Bucs, Stalin as usual will hide under his bed for a week, sucking his thumb.

I wish the NFL would just go away for about five years. I've overblown, it's usually boring, the coaches almost to a man are troglydites, and you can't watch 15 minutes of a game without being assaulted by a dozen commercials. With each passing season it feels less and less like a sports league, and more and more like a once-a-week sales pitch for men's toiletries, pick up trucks and mediocre American beer. And when the TV isn't occupied by commercials or a game you're asked to endure the ramblings of illiterate ex-players like Bradshaw and that Christ-awful Michael Irvin.

I can think of a million ways to waste a Sunday afternoon, but the NFL-- with it's terrible coaching, narcicisstic players and so forth-- is becoming less of an option for me with every passing year.

  • Just out of curiosity, who's gonna QB for the Bucs when Simms gets injured?
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

How come everyone is worried about Simms getting hurt? Who backs up Brady, who backs up Edgerrin? What if Peyton Manning goes

One injury isn't going to sink the ship?

Tim Rattay, Abe, Aron or whatever the kid's name is? Jay Fiedler? McCown didn't even make it to training camp.

Hah! You should be afraid, very afraid.

You ask about the Eagles back up.

Garcia is a proven successful QB who had a few years with bad teams.

The Eagles are in much better shape at QB than the Bucs.

    Offensive weapons. Just wait.

Hey there's always Timmy Chang too. He signed in January. image

No matter how you slice it you're delusional (as if we didn't know) if you think the Bucs O line is better this year. Young players with much to learn. Match them with a fast D and they are toast. Simms goes down by week 6. The Bucs have cap trouble and will suffer this year because of it.

So you're basing your entire hope of the Bucs' failures on the premise that Simms will get hurt?

Hmm interesting approach...you know the Bucs are a superior team, so you can say, when the Bucs end up with a better record, 'I said if the Bucs would be worse if Simms got hurt!'

    What a cowardly approach.

that was a quick and painless off season.. but then, the seasons have been painful enough lately for 49er fans.. i think this year they will not be quite so pathetic. that's what i'm hoping for. I am a sad and broken football fan after the past 2+ years. It has been rough.

I agree the Bucs WILL be good... so will the Pats. Brady's whoas will not continue like that hopeless Warner jerkoff, Tom will rebound. Problem is, he can't do it alone. Someone needs to inform the rest of his team they all have to contribute.
The Cowboys will suck, my Raiders will SUCK (again) damnit, the Saints (allbeit homeless) will be interesting to watch this year, and my Colts will make it to the playoffs again... and promply choke... again. Letting Vanderjaggoff go wasn't a loss, picking up Adam V. was a HUGE gain in my opinion!

You are being serious, aren't you ax? Please note, you brought this upon yourself so don't go crying saying that I started to "bash" you.

First off, did you even watch any of the games? Simms is not a good QB at all; never has been a leader and never will be one. Secondly, you really need to check your facts because how in the world did Chrissy lead them to a 11-5 record last year when he only played in 11 games and only started 10 (he went 7-4, btw)? I'll let you off on that technicallity... Anyhoooo... He also only had 10 TD passes while throwing 7 INTs and only averaged 6.5 yards per completion. Oh and let us not overlook his mighty 81 QB rating, which placed him 19th in the league.

or did you forget those FACTS?

Chrissy always has and will always be an overrated QB because of his father. I had the pleasure of watching him at UT, so I know what I'm talking about. Chrissy could never and will never win a big game, period. Go look at his performances against OU... Go look how he did in the playoffs last year; it was his key interception which lost the game.

How dare you call other fans blind Homers.

stown, when did you become such a blathering idiot?

I didn't say he won the games, said he led them to the record.

And 7-4 for such a young QB is quite good...not everyone is fortunate to be in a system like Pittsburgh where a rookie can go 15-1. I know a lot of teams that would drool at a 7-4 record (and, assuming you are a home, your Texans would in a minute).

You get your 'Chrissy' insult from Jim Rome? Oh you are so original...I guess I'll call you 'clown' instead of 'stown' now, just to be as original.

Look, asking a QB to be polished in less than a full year of starting is ridiculous...you saying he'll never be a leader is just as moronic as the rest of your posts.

Rather than disputing the facts that I provided, you resort to name calling, huh?

You said he led them to 11-5 when in reality it was 7-4. Nice sidestep by the way...

Chrissy comes from his days at UT, waaaaaaaaaaaay before Rome started to use it. Where do you think he got it from? Nice try though.

Finally, you are the one originally calling him a leader, not me. He never has been one, period.

First, the Rome reference was to him calling the old Rams QB Chrissy Everett...but that's before your time as a sports fan apparently.

Secondly, name calling? Uhm, I think YOU started it with the mindless 'Chrissy' chants.

Finally, stats mean exactly DICK in the NFL. Please tell me how many super bowl rings Manning has with his ungodly numbers? What about Marino? What's more important, a 7-4 record or a TD/INT ratio?

As to the name calling, again, Simms has been called Chrissy by UT fans ever since we knew he was overrated. You respond with "blathering idiot". Superior debating skills you have there.

In regards to leading, guess using your logic, Trent Dilfer led the Ravens to a Super Bowl.

Astonishing how you can justify Manning as nothing because he has no rings, and how his stats mean nothing, yet you endlessly rant on and defend Arod while he is baseballs version of Peyton. All numbers, no rings. Oh wait, now youll tell me how stats mean everything in baseball and nothing in football, right ??

No, I just didn't deem it worthwhile.

They won in spite of him (dilfer and simms)? Jealousy showing through again?

Miniscule success? I would think 11-5 and a division title for a team that many picked to finish under .500 to be a great success.

You want to talk about winning in spite of a QB, you need to only look at your own team, and see Eli's 75.9 qb rating, and 17 int's to 24 tds, and a pass completion percentage of 52.8%!

Simms had a better rating (81), better completion percentage (61), and comparable TD/INT ratio.

So, what do you have to say to that, softy?
