<< <i>Have any more of these transitional errors turned up? >>
i know of 3 for the 1983 1c on 3.1g copper

Has a 1982-D small date ever turned up on a 3.0g copper planchet? The existence of two 1983-D examples makes me believe they must exist too.
Sean Reynolds
Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

i won't comment about which bins contained which flans etc etc at the mint or which dates this and which sheets said that...
i will say that just based on the sheer combinations and the odds alone guarantee it is possible, plausible even
takes a lot of focus and familiarity when messing with those darn 82s so there are probably less people looking for them because of all the variations. takes a phenomenal amount of patience and dedication to look for those transitionals, i've looked through a lot of pocket change and imo it can borderline some serious psychological conditions to do it in large quantity and on a regular basis. feels good when you find something cool though
for whatever it is worth i even bought a set of the darn things all separated and labeled for reference when my mind gets a bit screwy about them from time to time!!! .
