Early Commeratives

Hi all.....I am looking into the Early comm. The question is that I see a lot of Gem Uncir. Are these as a good as MS grade say MS64. I know they are some what cheaper and the pictures of the Gem look really good. I dont know what to do since I am very new to the grading system. I also cant find a lot of places that sell the Early Comm. Any kind of direction is appreciated.

Plenty available on ebay LINK, and if your concerned about grade, buy slabbed.

    Lab,

Here are some links to dealers who I would recommend. They sell commems, nice ones, and are great to deal with. I, for one, only buy them slabbed by PCGS or NGC. Have fun!!!image

My advice is to buy the early commemorative coins in PCGS and NGC slabs. A lot of the raw stuff has been cleaned to death, and the "third world holders" are often traps for less than well informed bargain hunters. If you can see the coins in person, are confident of your grading skills, and buy them raw, more power to you, but certitifed is the way to go when it comes to the old commemoratives.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
