<< <i>Here's a close up picture of the front....if you guys can fill me in on the reason somebody would think this has phony color I'm open to learning about this aspect of toned coins....Thanks

First and foremost, the colors don't look natural. That could be the photo, but it's all we have to go on. After viewing enough toned coins, you get a good "feel" for what is and is not natural, and this doesn't look right. Also, the fact that it is target toned on both sides is very unusual and unnatural. If it were an end of roll coin, it would be only on one side. The other side, which would have rested against the next coin in the roll, would be usually more subdued, but definitely not target toned like the exposed side. Also, the evenness and near symmetry of the toning. On an end note, if the coin were an end of roll coin you would be likely to see the folds and other geometry created by the paper being rolled/folded against the coin.
I hope this helps, and you don't think I'm picking on you or your coin, just stating my opinion and trying to help. Welcome to the forums! May your participation be pleasant, enlightening, and fulfilling. (sorry Russ, but you forgot to ™ that one.)
Thanks for the info robertpr. My question is, how would somebody do this to a coin? I bought this from a PCGS dealer is very snobbish toward modern wheats and this coin was buried in a dusty binder and flip.
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.
Wow, nice Lincoln TonedCoinTrader. Thanks for sharing I'm still confused though, as a couple of members have said they thought my coin had counterfeit toning and nobody has yet to respond to my question as to how it could be done like this?
Anybody???
PS- Thanks again for all the nice comments everyone!
I believe that if somebody were to coment on how that is done, they may be accused of being a doctor themselves!
All I can tell you is that the aqua/blue is rarely, if ever, encountered on a naturally toned copper coin. I look at a LOT of toned Lincolns, and I have yet to see one certified by a reputable grading service with that color, in that pattern.
Upon looking at your coin again, the blue looks similar to one I recently got back from NGC, where it was bagged for 'improper cleaning'. I wonder if yours was at one point cleaned, and toned over on the 'unoriginal' surfaces
If I were you, I'd simply enjoy your coin for what it is, and I stand by my original comment, it is pretty wild!
Rob, thank you VERY much for that info! Just so I can get a second opinion, I'm posting some more pics below that show the colors a little closer to what they look like to the naked eye. I used a grading light for the first set of pics plus my camera set for close-ups, so it makes the colors look almost unreal, though after reading the above maybe they are?
Anyway, here's some more pics and I'd appreciate any comments
I may be wrong. I've been wrong before. However, it seems you are fishing for information on how to create your own toned coins. There are quite a few good websites I've run across on how to determine whether or not a coin is AT or NT. You don't need to know how to make them to know how to determine AT from NT.

That's definitely not what I'm looking to lol. I bought this coin (which is what got me started on the rainbow kick in the first place) from a local PCGS dealer at a premium, so it bothers me that some here think it may be counterfeit (it bothers my wallet too!). I don't need to know exactly how it was done, just for someone to say that, yes, a coin doctor can apply certain chemicals and make a wheat look like this, etc.
I'm not sure why a coin doctor would pick a 1935-D for this though, as it is not a key date and is not worth that much even in MS-66 Red. In person it just looks like a cool album or roll toned MS Wheat.
Bochiman, I don't understand, who's "bigben" and why are you trying to accuse me of being someone else? Do you have evidence of this? If this "bigben" character is rich and famous then I guess it will be good, otherwise I'm confused.
regaurdless of weather the coin is NT or AT, the services will not slab it to cover thier own repuations. I still think it is AT. Colors are too vibrant , and just run over the devices like nothing.
I know......the lincoln's he posts, the style...it is all "Bigben" but he wasn't even smart enough to get a new photobucket account.....and then he lies about being Bigben and being a "lurker on the forum and a first time poster".
Bigben/Aurelius.......don't know why (aside from all the PMs you sent people as bigben) you are wanting to deny you are bigben, but don't try to insult my, or others', intelligence by suggesting you aren't.
