Anyone remember when they took a great wrestler in Billy Gunn and turned him into the "Ass Man"?
Horrible idea and the poor guy's career never recovered.

Chaz (from the headbangers) came back as Beaver Cleaver, a grown man dressed as an 8 year old with a MILF as his manager, Mrs. Cleaver. All the dialogue between him and the woman had sexually perverse inferences...Lasted all of a week before on a live Raw event he broke character and said 'I can't do this'
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

<< <i>Also megatron - you need to check your facts before making comments here because you will be exposed. The below pasted information shows that steroids "could have" very well caused the Hodgkin's Disease - in my opinion steroids probably did or certainly could have contributed to the development of this cancer.
What causes Hodgkin's disease? Risk factors are anything that can increase the chance of developing a disease. They may be lifestyle-related, genetic (inherited) or environmental. The risk factors that a relate to other cancers such as diet, smoking and unprotected sun or pesticide exposure are not related to Hodgkin's disease. In fact, there are few risk factors that link directly to the development of Hodgkin's disease. >>
Uh, Steve, your little quote says very explicitly that there are few- as in, you know, the opposite of 'many'-- risk factors that link to Hodgkin's. How you go from that to 'in my opinion steroids probably contributed to the development of this cancer' is utterly inexplicable.
Here's another quote I just found. "Also known as Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease is one of two types of cancer of the lymph system. The lymph system protects the body from disease and infection. No one is sure exactly what causes Hodgkin's, but heredity, viruses, and immune system deficiencies may play a role." In fact, I can't find anything that suggests that steroids contribute to Hodgkins. Please, stevek, give us your sources; your legions of admirers wait with bated breath.

I watch maybe an episode of Raw every other month or so when football season isn't going. But I caught part of one where they had some old guys from ECW come out. I went to a music forum and saw the Sci-Fi/ECW news. He's definetly bringing it back, as overall interest is down and also this will try and compete with the new startup TNA(Virtually WCWII) which broadcasts on SpikeTV. I haven't watched "rassling" regularly since maybe 97 or so. Just grew up out of that stage and now I mainly watch K-1, Pride, UFC(New stuff is weak but eh only Espn and Comcast SportsNet really brings in any similar product on regular cable) and boxing.

WWE had better be careful with ECW - the ECW franchise has a great legacy, some of those matches were the best wrestling matches I've ever seen (there are a couple of DVD compilations of ECW matches, highly recommended). I can see WWE ruining it, just like they ruined their own brand - even without any competition to speak of.

Ive caught glimpses of that TNA wrestling also...looks like there are tons of former WWE wrestlers on there. Looks like they may be picking up some speed and some fans...they must be because they have a Thursday night slot now. I used to really enjoy WCW...like I said, once WWE bought them, I havent watched much.
Is it just me or is the whole (Matt, Jeff, or both) Hardy "Look at me and my hand signals and body paint, I'm SOOO Alternative!" act wearing a little thin? It might have been OK in 2000 or so, but it's so over now I think it's turned into one of the worst gimmicks ever over time
Kobe Who? At least Dwyane pays proper respect to Da Big Aristotle
The problem with the new ECW is it will be taped prior to the Smackdown Tapings, so I don't know how well it will go over. I mean, you'll have "Pro" WWE signs in the crowd unlike the old ECW. Hopefully the PPV's will still be decent.
I spent a few minutes checking out the ECW website - they are doing the right thing by having RVD go back there, but they also are sending Kurt Angle to ECW? Other than that, some interesting names on the roster...who knows, I might have to check this out at least once.
I'll give it a chance for sure. I loved ECW and used to go everytime that they would visit South Florida at the War Memorial Auditorium. Always had a GREAT F'N time!

Yeah, most folks would think that it's Rob Van Dam taking the title from Cena, but I believe we can see something like Sabu beating Rey Mysterio and renaming that belt the ECW championship. Finally, the RAW/Smackdown division can be destroyed and just keep all WWE guys battling on both shows. Then, the belt that Cena is wearing could be the WWE Heavyweight Champion.
If the WWE plays this right, we could finally have that brand vs brand thing going well. Then, we can see ECW Champion SABU vs WWE Champion JOHN CENA or something like that. Works out much better. Then, give RVD the secondary title (ECW TV Title?) and have him keep that for another nearly two years and keep that thing going like they used to. Then, we can see the ECW TV Champion ROB VAN DAM vs the WWE US Champion LASHLEY (or whomever it is that month).
This could do well if we don't see a lot of cross-promotional things other than the kickoff to drum up some interest from non-ECW fans. Well, I'm off to see the WWE vs ECW show starting in a couple of minutes.

Interesting ECW PayPerView last night. I liked it, but too many 'WWE' wrestlers and not enough of the old school ECW guys. I understand the 'new breed' mentality, but it's tough to buy Kurt Angle and even harder to buy Big Show as 'hardcore'.
So, we'll see where it goes. It's definitely getting me more interested in ECW than WWE though.

Personally a let down. Too much interaction with WWE. Need to let it break away and go its own way.
Big Show and Kurt Angle both were highlighted on the show with revamped entrance music. Kurt's no longer gives the chance for the "You Suck" chant to go with the music.
Both seem way out of place. Kurt demolished a former big player of ECW in Justin Credible. Big Show manhandled everyone in a 10 man hardcore battle royal. Until the finish where after he eliminated Big Guido, Guido held on to the arm of Big Show and Sabu jumped off a chair with a chair in hand and knocked him out of the ring to win the Battle Royal and go on to Vengeance to face John Cena. So at Vengeance you'll have 3 ECW wrestlers in matches vs WWE wrestlers. Not looking like a good way to start for the diehard ECW fans.
They also had the short lived debut of "The Zombie" who got his butt kicked by The Sandman.
And showed the Taz vs Lawler match from ONS
That had to be the worst gimmick ever!
Biggest highlight was "Kelly" who worked in OVW doing a "Strip Tease".
Overall, a big let down due to the WWE involvement. I'm thinking house shows should be decent though.
Like I said in an earlier post, taping/having the show before a Smackdown taping really hurts the product. Crowd will always be too pro WWE, and ECW will be filled with too many WWE wresters that don't belong in ECW.
The new "ECW" is a canidate for the worst wrestling show of the year (and that is saying something)! Please let the ECW die because this is killing the legacy. Extremely Crappy Wrestling indeed.

I still think Smackdown might beat out ECW for worst show. That roster is pathetic!
If Vince would give full controll to Paul Heyman, then ECW might stand a chance. I'm sure it was Vince's idea to bring in "The Zombie"
Get rid of Kurt Angle and The Big Show, and bring back Mike Awesome when he gets healthy. Heck, drop Smackdown altogether and just make it an ECW show instead. I mean when you have a huge arena filled with at least 90% pro WWE fans you can't produce a good ECW product. Horrible idea, like I said before, I'm sure the house shows might at least be decent, seeing they won't be ECW/Smackdown shows.
Unfortunately, the new ECW show had WWE written all over it. From the WWE guys squashing the ECW guys to the 'look' and 'feel' of the program. I don't want ECW to die, but I can't see it succeeding if they head down this path.
