Email PCGS and they will contact the prior owner and have him/her remove it from their set.

If you can, include a digital photo of the front and back of the slab when you email them. Then if the original owners don't take it out of thier registry within a week or two, PCGS will do it for them provided they've seen your pics.

Happened to me twice but got taken care of easily.

edit: I see below that no one else needed pics. Maybe because I was new to the registry? They did ask me for pics. Oh well, it still got taken care of and that's all that matters.

It was right before registry deadline and I purchased a high grade coin on e-bay.
I entered the cert. number from the auction page but was sent a similar coin
just as nice in the same grade. A 1981-S ms66 SBA. image

You don't need any pics, I just asked via email and included the cert # and the date I bought it. Within a few hours it was released. I did this 3 times.

This is the one circumstance where customer service is excellent at PCGS, at least so far in my experience. I have done it about 3 times, and the coins were released within a day or two by the previous owner. I did not have to send pics, but it couldn't hurt.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

That's because BJ is in charge of it. If all of PCGS were staffed by BJ's and Carol's, our dealings would be Heavenly.
