Since there are many, many thousands of original, undipped Morgan dollars that are blast white, can there also be Seated dollars that are blast white, but unmolested? I'm talking about the ones from the GSA hoard of the 1960's and 1970's that were dispersed among collectors. I understand one bag of 1000 dollars of each year of 1859-O and 1860-O were part of the hoard. Could these two dates have survived from before the war in white, uncleaned condition? Or is this a case of "If it is from the 19th century and white, it's been dipped" category?

The trouble is a lot of them are bag marked to death, or in more than a few cases really sliders.
Many were sold in/around the DC/Balt area and I have handled some that had never been a coin collection before.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

there are very few coins of the era that one can be sure are original, one of these dollars makes the list
