Carnell Lake
Terry Allen
according to my values and my needs. Nothing holds dominion over me, I stand alone as the ruler of my life.
Monk comes to mind
Claude Humphrey
Bob Kuechenberg
Thurman Thomas
Michael Irvin
This is Humphrey's last year on the modern ballot, so I think he's got a real good shot. Thurman Thomas is a lock this year as the top offensive skill player eligible. And Irvin will get in either WITH Monk or BEFORE Monk...He was simply more dominant than Monk during his career.
But don't take my word for it...The HOF voters are the guys making the call...lol
If we are assuming 6 players will be elected this year, my top 6 (in order) are:
Bruce Matthews
Thurman Thomas
Michael Irvin
Claude Humphrey
Derrick Thomas
Randall McDaniel

You think like me! I was already looking at what autographs to start looking for! Is it too early to pick up a nice Marshall Faulk??
I think Bruce Matthews will likely be a first ballot HOFer.

By the way is there a site , that gives the official retirement date of all NFL Players ! I have a tough time remembering what year guys retire.
Irving and Monk should be in,
McDaniel was dominant during his time and I see no reason for him not to get in...He may not be a first ballot guy like Bruce Matthews, but he will get in.
Ray Guy, unfortunately, probably never will...In fact, no punter probably ever will..Its a position that most people would consider the least important on a team...Anyone who played against the Raiders during Ray Guy's tenure might argue that fact...
Dan, there isn't a site that I know of that tracks player retirements. I track them myself, I've got a spreadsheet listing all important/possible HOF players if you are interested.
Shoot me an e-mail..

I'd be interested Jason. Can you email it to me? FFMAZZ@AOL.COM
<< <i>Chris Hanburger had 9 stright pro bowls and has never been considered that i know of >>
While there were 9 Pro Bowls, they weren't straight.
9-time Pro Bowler: 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976
I don't understand why old #55 gets no respect...
Robert
Any high grade OPC Jim Palmer
High grade Redskins (pre 1980)
The other 4 would probably be.....
CB- Lemar Parrish (Bengals and Redskins, 1970-1982)-- 8 Pro Bowls
DE- Jerry Mays (Chiefs, 1961-1970)-- 7 Pro Bowls (AFL)
LB- Les Richter (Rams, 1954-1962)-- 8 Pro Bowls
S- Cliff Harris (Cowboys , 1970-1979)--5 Pro Bowls
All 5 of these guys are just as, if not more deserving than other players already in the HOF at the same position...
Now that the HOF allows for TWO Senior Candidates each year, it's possible at least some of these guys will eventually get the recognition they deserve...
Frank, e-mail sent!

Could you please send the schedule to me - my e-mail is montooth13@yahoo.com. If you're interested, I have a nice spreadsheet on all the NFL hall of fame members, their year of induction and year of death...

Wulf,
I'm starting to send out requests through the mail to anyone I can think of that is a potential hall of famer. I have a 1995 Pro line Marshall Faulk so I'm covered there
It is probably easier to start collecting their rookie cards and autographs now - before they are elected and everyone is adding them to the HOF RC and HOF auto set. As a matter of fact, last September I bought a beautiful Rayfield Wright PSA 8 rc for $30 - after he was elected they were selling for $80 to $100. Then again, I missed out buying a Harry Carson rc and auto until after he was elected....doh!!

Seems like a weak list to me.
Bruce Matthews-----------deserves to go in
Randall McDaniel---- on the bubble
LeRoy Butler-----no
Ricky Watters----no
Tony Boselli------no
Terrell Davis------The Frank Thomas of Football?
Randall Cunningham----No Superbowl--decent stats
Steve Wisniewski---on the bubble
Eric Allen----Longshot
Carnell Lake----no
Terry Allen-----no
IMO---but again, what do i know!!
Don't worry Greg. More Rc's will show up, plus you can pick up his autograph relatively cheap. I won one last week for $15

This year is fairly weak for the first ballot guys..No big offensive names like Marino, Sanders, Moon, etc...Matthews is probably the only first ballot guy, but I of the new guys entering the HOF race, McDaniel, Butler, Davis, and Boselli will get serious looks...Here's how I see it...
Bruce Matthews-----------First Ballot
Randall McDaniel----100% will get in, probably not first ballot though
LeRoy Butler-----Will at LEAST be a finalist at some point, 50/50 he makes the HOF. He was dominant and changed the SS position
Ricky Watters----Will never be a finalist, possible top 25/semi-finalist at best
Tony Boselli------Depends on what happens with Terrell Davis and how the injury shortened modern player is viewed
Terrell Davis------Will likely be a finalist and will be hotly debated..If he gets in, I think Boselli does as well down the line
Randall Cunningham----Could be a finalist at some point, most likely 10-15 years down the road though
Steve Wisniewski---Too far behind with these other O-lineman who were better..Zimmerman, Dermontti Dawson, Matthews, McDaniel, etc
Eric Allen----No chance, not even a semi-finalist
Carnell Lake----No chance, could be a semifinalist at some point though
Terry Allen-----No chance, his 8,000+ yards will at least get him nominanted for consideration..

Actually, I bought a 2004 Fan Favorites for $15 a month ago plus I received 3 auto's back from him through the mail. He's a great signer. That's actually how I've obtained several players that have been tough to find including Bob St. Clair, Dan Rooney, Dave Wilcox, John Madden and Stan Jones to name a few.

Frank,
I have extras of St. Clair, Madden and Stan Jones. LMK if you're interested. By the way, I just sent out TTM requests to Dan Fouts, Claude Humphrey, Ray Guy, Gary Anderson, Morten Anderson, Keith Sims, Randy Gradishar, Bruce Matthews, Randall McDaniel, Dermonti Dawson, Mike Shanahan, Paul Warfield and Dan Dierdorf. I'm hoping to have autographs of all players that have a possibility of getting in.

Greg M.

<< <i>What about Larry Allen and Willie Roaf on the O-line. They should have a decent shot at it once they retire. You also have to think about Morten Anderson and maybe even Adam Vinaterri (SP) for kickers. Any thoughts on Keith Jackson and Shannon Sharpe as a TE? Other than having to wait for Gonzalez or the guy from the Chargers (whom I am drawing on blank on right now). >>
There are alot of guys still playing who will warrant consideration once they retire. Willie Roaf and Larry Allen are two of them, both with more than 10 Pro Bowls each. How about these names:
Junior Seau
Derrick Brooks
Ray Lewis
Jonathan Ogden
Brett Favre
Peyton Manning
Marshall Faulk
Curtis Martin
Tony Gonzalez
Marvin Harrison
There's 10 LOCKS right there....
Some of the other guys you mentioned who have retired will be due up for the HOF in future years. Some of the "sure things":
2008- Cris Carter, Darrell Green
2009- Bruce Smith, Rod Woodson, Shannon Sharpe
2010- Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Tim Brown, Morten Andersen
2011- Deion Sanders, Jerome Bettis
Keith Jackson has no chance. He's been eligible since 2002 and hasn't even made the top 25 Semifinals. Vinateri just needs some years to pad his scoring totals. He's got all the big game kicks he needs, but since the only true Kicker in the HOF is Jan Stenerud who retired the All-Time Leading scorer I think its tough to get in unless you've amassed alot of points to go along with the big game heroics...

LC Greenwood is really underrated. I agree that Hanburger is also underrated. How about Tommy Nobis being underrated.

<< <i>Randall McDaniel is a sure-fire lock. 12 straight Pro Bowls is a NFL record, at any position (99 percent certain of that)

Tommy Nobis is one of my favorites to watch..He was an absolute BALLHAWK playing for an expansion team(Falcons) with virtually NO HELP. Had he played for a top notch team, he would be in the HOF already.
If his name ever comes up as a Senior Candidate, I think he will get in 100%..Kinda like Benny Friedman a couple of years back..A player almost completely forgotten about, but if you but on his highlight reel he will be re-discovered as a dominant guy in his era.

Wasn't Bruce Matthews a pro-bowler 14 straight years?
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)

Yep, he sure was...Both (14 and 12) are great accomplishments and should make each player a certain HOFer.
14 is the record and Matthews shares it with Merlin Olsen...
