Franklin coin and chronicle set

I just had confirmation that my order for two franklin coin and chronicle sets has been processed. Has anyone else received these yet? One of mine is heading to fleabay but I may hang onto the other and see if it appreciates. Anyone else sold them on bay for E?

Also does anyone have a photo of what they really look like? The only one I have ever seen is the one from the US Mint website

Mine still show an expected shipping date of, May 22nd. More then likely it will be July 22nd, if at all.

Are you saying the 'cancel' box is gone or the status at the top say 'Order Status: Your order request is in process. '??

If the box is gone, they are on their way, otherwise, not yet.

Mine is in process, but the cancel box is still there, expected 5/22 ship date.

  • I ordered mine at 6:07 PM on Jan. 17th and I show in stock and reserved and cancel option gone.
I don't think my card has been charged yet thou.
  • 10 units shipped 5/19.

The sets that I ordered on the 17th shipped "today" which according to the tracking info was yesterday. So I should get them today. The sets that I ordered on the 18th are still backordered and scheduled to be shipped on 5/22

Mine shows that it shipped today (5/19).

The last time the mint showed something shipped out was my silver PROOF sets, and I received them the same day they showed that it shipped.

I can only hope for the same again.

Mine are still backordered. But I think they will ship pretty quick, even the single coins only took a couple weeks to send to everyone, and that was a lot more items. I'd say these are all packed and ready to go, it'll just take a week to get 50,000 sets out.

Mine were just delivered by Fed Ex!

I only ordered 2 one to keep and one to (Maybe) sell or pass down.

As a $2 collector I also like the Intaglio print from a plate made from the 1875 master die.

Looks like I may keep both.

My set was just brought up to my office from the shipping dept. Not one of the mints best efforts IMO. The packing only measures 7.25" x 6.25". I prefer the larger size of the previous coin sets. The Poor Richards Almanac looks like something you would find a five and dime store. I also just noted several spots on the Dollar. Looks like they may have had some coin storage problems while waiting for the packaging to be completed. I'll be interested in all other opinions. It may be that I am having a bad day and it will look better tomorrow, but I doubt it.image

I was going to add that my dollar definately would not be a submission candidate, MS68 tops, But I didn't want to complain.

I passed on the other Coin + Crap sets before so I do not have anything to compare it to.

I am actually glad they didn't print the almanac on fake parchmant, ( it was hand bound on "laid antique paper similar to that use by Ben franklin".)--

Does anyone know if the size is accurate repproduction?

I got mine today and they look really nice. The package is shrink-wrapped and I haven't opened it. I would upload some pics but the file size limit is 50kb. I can't get my pictures that small even on the lowest setting. Is there a way to get around the size limit problem or am I doing something wrong?
  • Hi Res

    image I just got that!

Try putting your pictures of the chronicle set on omnicoin.com, a very nice hosting site and then you can link them to the forum

Okay I scanned (instead of photo'd) them at 50 dpi - only 18kb now!

  • Wow I finally get to see the item after all those generic pics on eBay. I just checked and mine shipped today.

Anyone want to guess what this will do to the price on eBay now all the sets are in hand? I'm going to predict a modest fall but one of my sets is still headed there

The set comes in a slip case that is 7.5" X 6.5 inches. The COA is printed on the back and details the four products inside. Each of the four is signed by the Director in Charge of the respective agency:

    US Mint - Comm dollar
GPO - Facsimile of Poor Richards Almanac
BEP - intaglio print of signing of Declaration of Independence
    USPS - stamps

HAven't decided whether or not to open the shrink wrap. I'll let the kids do that in 20 years.

My order is listed as 'Order Status: Your order request is on hold', but it is also showing in stock and reserved; this changed from the expected to ship on 5/22 that's been up there for a month or so. Anyone know what 'on hold' means in US Mint terminology?

Just off the top of my head, is your CC info up to date? Give them a call to make sure. You don't want to lose because of the technicality.

  • Per the Mint web site my three sets shipped today but no email about them yet---tom

  • It really is amazing. Mine went from in stock and reserved last night to shipped this morning.
I went out at 9 AM and back at 12 and Fedex had been hear and left a door tag saying I could pick it up after 12 today.
I think no way can the attempt delivery and bring it back in 3 hours so I call. Sure enough I have 10 in hand.image

The term, "order on hold", is bad news for the purchaser. The next step is for the Mint to cancel the order. I have been through this problem many times before figuring out the banks record of my billing address didn't match mine exacty. Someting is wrong with your CC for the order to be on hold.

What would you do if you have 100 of these? Would you ebay, BST or hold?

  • Is it possible that the mint is still shipping the regular (non chronicles) coins as well , or have they finally shipped all of those.
