For some I'm sure it's questions of days if not hours.
What's the longest stretch of time you've gone between either coin purchases or selling a coin?

About a year, when I went back to graduate school.

I had no extra money, and I have let my subscription to the Coin Dealer Newsletter lapse. I still belonged to a local coin club and went to as many meeting as I could, but I ddin't buy or sell anything.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I'll admit, everyday I try to sell someone a dime for a dollar. They all tell me the same thing. "We don't buy B.S., Joe, we only hear it".

  • Since I started collecting again, about 2 months. Now that my wife is starting a new business, it will probably be about a year before I can buy anything, and I hope to heck that the business takes off so that I am not forced to sell anything!!!

I quit buying for about 8 years after I spent a buncha money on a MS64 Pan Pac half-- then I started making a killing in the tech market in the mid 90s. I didn't buy again until I saw a state quarter, which puzzled the hell out of me.
