Do Dealers Take Customers For Granted?

CoinosaurusCoinosaurus Posts: 9,631 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've run across a couple situations where a dealer decides to place a fresh coin with a new customer instead of me. It's like they take my business for granted, and would rather use their good coins to bring in new customers instead of servicing their old reliables. What gives?

Dealers have to make tough decisions sometimes. There are not many great coins to spread around so sometimes you get the shaft and someone else walks away with a coin you wish you had. Thats not taking anyone (customers) for granted, thats just the realities of the business. If you have a strong relationship with your dealer, I recommend you stay in the game, remind the dealer of your needs, and not lose your place in line. Your time will come very soon.

I know if I have a standing request i.e. I am on the dealer list I get notified in order from the list. I try to do the same for people that buy from me, I have several names on a list for PR70 items and if they decline they go to new buyers.

Maybe the new customer is willing to pay a bit more. Are the coins that special that you know they got sold to someone else? Or is the dealer telling you that he/she sold them to someone else? I am puzzled as to how you know.

Any how, it's a free market. Some dealers will hold nice coins back for favored customers, but to make that "most favored customer status," it may take a big bankroll and a willingness to pay more than average. Some dealers tend not to do business that way and are just as happy to sell as soon as possible especially as the market becomes more volatile.
