OK........that one gets slabbed and Fairlaneman's BTW gets bagged(see "Questionable Color coin question. Anyone ?" thread).
Sometimes I think I just need to have a stiff drink or thee and never again try to understand the TPGs.
"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose." John Marnard Keynes, The Economic Consequences of the Peace, 1920, page 235ff
From what I hear the toning people say on this board, that's been torch-toned, correct?
I think the dishonesty about how these things happen is deplorable. Having said that, do you think someone would just as happily buy it if someone said, "Hey, I did this with an acetelyne torch. Look how pretty!!"? I really doubt that how it happened matters to everyone. I just think it should be disclosed.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
Camaro, You should slab that Frankie -- looks like it target toned in an after-market holder. I have an MS Franklin that toned like that in one of those snap-lock mint set holders that PCGS slabbed MS-65.
