  • Why wouldn't the tone on this one be obvious?

IMO the two-sided rainbow and vibrant purple/red colors indicate that it's AT.

Or it could of spent some time in a Album that was in a damp climate. When they are Morgans every body is jumping on the MONSTER tome wagon.

Looks shake and baked by a chemical pro.....AT all the way imho.
  • keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
while the colors are a bit more vibrant due to the fact that it's a 90% silver issue, it doesn't necessarily look AT, though it might be. i'm in the process of slowly assembling a set of album toned Kennedy Half-Dollars and find them with concentric tone from album storage. the majority of the nicest examples are from the 70's. the onle two i submitted were holdered by PCGS, a 1978-D @ MS66 for my Registry Set and a 1978 @ MS65 that was in the estate of FC57Coins.

Well, on March 5th it closed at $499.00. I'd guess right around that amount, again.

What's with the dink on the reverse? Did this happen after the toning and some got "knocked off" or could this be an indication of AT? I'll admit I'm pretty ignorant still when it comes to NT/AT

It's in one of the top two holders, they're never wrong.

  • Since we are all speculating here on the toning origin, I think it is likely that the toning source was from an after-market proof set holder, perhaps a capital plastics holder.

Although I agree that the colors could be debatable, I believe it is NT, since, when held in hand, the colors transition properly for an NT coin.

Seller has a return privilege and appears to have good feedback. image

Doug, did you buy it raw and submit yourself, or was it already holdered?

  • I'm no expert, but it looks AT to me. On a side note, I got to wonder, why is it being sold for the second time by the same seller? Positive feedback was left for the buyer in the first auction. image

Edited to add: I didn't realize the seller was a member. I didn't mean to suggest anything bad. image

  • It should bring in about 3000X list.

Membership does not always correlate to honesty with all members so please feel free to ask! I believe my buyer decided it just wasn't for him and sent it back for a refund. The pictures are accurate and I stand behind my coins 100% via a rock solid return privilege.

    Thanks,

Did the same guy do your icon? image

Anyway, both are incredible coins and in those holders quite special to own.

too rich for my blood but i think they'd be fun coins to have, certainly interesting to look at

and guaranteed to get ATtention whenever they're displayed image
