Sorry, I will post better pics this evening. I don't have my copy stand here at work. They didn't look this bad when I had them on the computer......

  • Assuming you have full luster, the coin could get 65. It appears to have 66 surfaces, but a modestly weak strike.
  • I agree with 66 on the surfaces. The pic is too blurry to judge on the devices, though. Seems like there might be wear on the high points of the hair, but I can't be sure.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

If is wasn't such a poor strike, it would be a super coin, MS65.

Super looking coin; 85p 's are known for the weak strikes, your coin could very well merit ms66 Send it in..image

  • Very nice, clean surfaces. 65, shot 66. If you send it in for grading, let us know how it turns out!!
  • Had to borrow my son's camera......for some reason, mine won't reset back to factory settings and now the colour is waay off. This should be better.

Thank you for your patience and grades.

Chances are this one will come back as an MS-64. Sure it's smooth, but the obverse looks dull, which is true of most 1921 Morgan dollars. There is a big premium from MS-64 to MS-65 on the Gray Sheet, and the grading services know it. For that reason they don't hand out MS-65s on these coins lightly.

I can't tell if this is an "S" or "D". If it's an "S" the price goes up almost 7 fold. If it's a "D" it doubles.

I've seen these coins catch an MS-65 when they have had more marks than this piece, but a lot more luster.

OPPS! You just swithced coins. The 1885 looks like an MS-64 on the obverse, but the reverse looks weakly struck and odd for a Philadelphia mint piece. It almost looks like a New Orleans mint piece. If the reverse looks better than what's showing in the picture, it's still an MS-64. If is as odd and washed out and weak in the centers, it could go lower.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I was wondering what you were looking at. image

I see a mid-low 64; wouldn't surprise me to see it come back 63. Morgans, for the record, need different settings to photograph obverse and reverse.
