Victor D. Brenner Bronze Plaque of Lincoln

VTCoinsVTCoins Posts: 1,361 ✭✭✭
I recently came across a bronze plaque that was supposed to have been created by Brenner. It looked to be about seven inches by ten inches and included a portrait of Lincoln from the waist up (I believe). The seller wasn't sure how many were created (he said between 50 andd 250), and that they came with either a wood or marble frame. This one did not have the frame.

The bronze was gorgeous, but I had no idea on what it is worth. Anyone ever seen one of these?

All you need to ask yourself is three questions:

    1. Is it authentic?

    2. How much does he want for it?

    3. Do I like the piece enough or am I willing to pay that much to own it.

Not much different than a coin purchase.

Be VERY CAREFUL about these pieces. Back in the 1970s a New Jersey company cast a bunch of copies of these pieces that are totally bogus. I got stuck with one those BEFORE I purchased the piece I have now.

Here’s my piece, and I know that it is genuine. As the price, I’ve not been the market for a while.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

The plaque pictured is the one that is available for sale.

Any ideas on how to tell if the one I am thinking about purchasing is legit?
