Lastest Purchase: 1848 Large Cent

This is my first Large Cent I have ever purchased and I thought I would share it with you guys. It is a 1848 Braided Hair Large Cent.

I was thinking it was a nice looking G-4 for $3.50. Could I be wrong?

On these types of purchases I always think of what the cost is vs. a magazine!
    Magazine.....about $4-5, thrown away in a month.
    Coin.....$3.50, NEVER thrown away.

    Great buy! image

  • My price guide says these go for $25.00

    Is that true?

  • Are you looking at CoinValues? Even so, that would be for a no problem coin. Your coin loks like it has some corrosion spots--but for $3.50 you're doing just fine.

Be very careful. I started out with a coin very much like that one. Now I have about thirty more like it. image

Nice pickup! For $3.50, you did very well. image

    Take care...Mike

Nice Buy, very attractive color and nice original coin with honest wear.
