Zero feedback equals zero bids from me on a coin like that
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • I like his other auction!

Suspicous at best, and yes... fishy!image

  • May be hijacked--coin is genuine IMHO--looks like an O-102 (R6)

    Edit: Check the other auction---strange!

  • The English is standard German context. The dissertation is probably the best way he knew how to describe the coin, so he found a description and copied and pasted. In actuality he should get MORE credit for not grading the coin some ungodly grade trying to rip someone. The other auction is a bit interesting, but you have to remember that not everyone lives the same as those in the US, even though some in the US would pull something like that. My guess would be that the kid is probably honest, but grasping at straws here looking for a quick fix, but who knows? *shrugs*

He should get his hands out of his pockets.

Yes but the description is for a completely different coin denomination. A write up on dimes for the auction of a half dollar.

I saw that and I agree it's wrong. The kid had already been asked about it and replied to it. He probably saw 'Draped Bust' and thought it was all the same. I'm not saying I give this person full support and I think everyone should throw money at them. I'm simply saying I dont think its automatically a scam. It could be a scam, but the context and ignorance about what it is seem genuine. Maybe I'm just not running around with a noose looking for the next person to hang, I dunno.

Guaranteed scam. NO question. We all put up $30,000 coins on ebay with no reserve. This coin could be sold for good money at auction or to a legit dealer. Only bottom feeders would consider such a coin on ebay w/o certification.

-grandpa's coin (ok.....at least it's not an "estate" coin (lol))
-I returns zee money if zee turns out to be fake (sure zee will)
    -bank wires only.....no paypal
-photo looks to be take right from an auction catalog
    -moron doesn't know difference from a 10c to a 50c. Come on.
-0 FB seller having all his scam auctions hit at once because after
any one of them, he'll have neg FB.
-the first coin most legit sellers put on ebay is worth $30K (right)

    scam on!

  • Depending on where the bidding goes, I'd be sorely tempted to follow that. In a slab, that's a $50k coin if Heritage's archives are any indication.

  • Not much chance of happening--but just imagine if someone comes on to the forum and posts a picture of the actual coin purchased for $356--stranger things have ocurred. If so--hope they send the kid $12K for his tuition! Great article for CoinWorld.

Edit: OOPS! Forgot the $100 postage/shipping--make that $456.

Needs tuition money.... owns a $50,000 coin and doesn't know what it's worth.... has $28 million in his bank account in Nigeria that you can claim for a mere $750 transfer fee... etc.

  • $100 shipping?! image
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
