What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

That does seem simple but just doesn't seem to work.

Sometimes it seems the only thing that might work is if the subject of moderns were simply not raised whatsoever.

  • Why say flame away? If you say that it seems like your looking to be flamed, IMO.

Flame, flame, flame...you can't get away with writing such common sense. At least not on this forum.imageimage

"FLAME AWAY" was intended to elicit a laugh once my post was read -- I'm sure WONDERCOIN would find the humor in this. BTW, I'm not looking to be flamed but it wouldn't upset me if I was...

Hey, you ol' grumpy geezer! I Can't buy what I like because many of the dealers (and their investors) say I am just a low-life collector and can't make decisions on my own. I "need" them, and that's what it's all about. OK, see ya soon!image

Sorry, but your take is unnaceptable. It won't save any of us moderns collectors from our own stupidity.

  • But, dont you see, the modern bashers are just trying to protect you!!

Someday you will see the light and buy and sell all your coins (classic widgets, of course) through the MAJOR MARKET MAKERS, with a buy/sell spread of only 30%!

    Ain't that the truth!

Mikey - well said. And, do let me know if you ever come across those 1983(p) Wash Quarters in PCGS-MS67 at $1,000/coin. I could still use a few for stock.

that is the problem mikey the biggest slabbed ga-ga ms/pr 69/70 players are not buying for their collecting ............ they are making them and then promoting them on here and selling them for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ more than they paid due to plastic and gaining collectors they can place these kicking time bombs with that will explode in losses for the end users

this is why you also see so many threads on promotions of slabbed ga-ga grade 69/70 coins and then the attacking and bashing personal attacks by these slabbed 69/70 people as you got guilty consciences and they are in need to convince themselves of their misdeeds

  • You sound like Dorkcarl!

Who cares about money when one is pursuing ones interests?

If you think coin collecting is all about investing I DISAGREE!

For the most part, we are all big boys here, and it is absolutely clear that nobody is twisting anyone's arms. We are an intelligent group capable of making intelligent decisions on our own. If modern naysayers would put some of their energy into protecting those unintelligent collectors, perhaps by making their thoughts known on other forums/venues, such as, for example, eBay, through available means, such as the eBay "Buyer's guides" a better target audience would largely appreciate their words and efforts. Seriously, take it to the streets, and yell it at the top of your lungs. There are plenty of unsuspecting consumers available out there in the rest of the real world who would listen AND actually learn something from all the warnings one could muster.

Has it not occured to you that it is only you engaging in personal attacks. Oh sure, in the
old days many of the modern bashers would attack collectors, dealers, and graders on a
personal level but it's only you left. When anyone points out how you could be wrong you
scream about that being a personal attack.

Here you're in a thread which seeks peace and you are slamming dealers and the coins
themselves. Even when you're posting "my my my my crusty busties" you have a slam
against modern coins in your post because it's in your sigline.

Perhaps you should take a clue from my sigline. Tempus fugit. It isn't the 1960's anymore.
    It's not even the 1990's.

I like a reasonable approach of live and let live. I also like threads that compare classics markets and modern markets, and the risks that are inherent in dabbling in any coin market..... image
