ICG is as conservative as PCGS lately, at least that is what I've noticed. Too bad ICG's customer service and turnaround times stink.

Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose in crossing from PCGS to ICG? In search of higher grades? Most people I know would cross going the other direction.

Or is there something lucrative about ICG I'm unaware of... I thought that their slabs brought lower returns than the big 3.

I was thinking the same thing. Will be interesting to hear about Steve's reasons.

Decided to use ICG for the darkside I intend to keep for my personal collection as I am happier with their attributions. Besides, a couple of the coins I crossed over from PCGS to ICG were overgraded by PCGS as in the case of the Sweeden 2KR ... obvious wear on the obverse.

I have a few more on their way to ICG at the moment and then will be taking a break for a while ...

Send it back with your next submission and we will fix it.

  • Might be a while before my next submission to ICG, but I will send it in when I have enough together.

    Thanks for the info.

ICG's grading is pretty accurate and their holder looks very nice. I've been pestering Cameron to try to tidy up the ICG inserts a bit. ICG bold faces the insert information which sometimes makes them look smeary and hard to read. Also, in my opinion, the inserts sometimes look very cluttered when ICG tries to cram 4 or 5 lines of text onto an insert. If ICG gets the inserts looking a bit better, I think ICG will have the best package (grading, holder, and clear easy-to-read inserts) of any grader of world coins.

In addition, for world coins and exonumia, I have not noticed any meaningful price differential between ICG and other TPG's.
